I went to my BB in Worcester, MA they had 4 on the shelf with no price tag.
I asked the employee to check the price. He said $129. I asked if they were still
doing the Price Match with CC for $59.99. He went and asked his supervisor. He came back and told
me that they would honor that price. I picked up the drive and asked him who will do the paper
work. He pointed out a guy and said that he was his boss. I went to grab him, but he ducked into
a back room. While waiting for him to come out another guy comes out and asks if he could help me.
I told him what was going on and he said he was the store manager and that he knew nothing of the
price match. I told him that the other guy already approved it. He went in the back and asked him. When
he came back he asked me if I had the ad. I said no that the other guy is already aware of the deal and had
already approved it. After several minutes and checking other stores prices on the computer I said I really don't care
if you do it or not, but I sure wish if you guys wouldn't keep saying one thing and then doing another. After I said that
he said that I was right and pulled out his price match book. When I got to the cashier she rang it up as $59.99 and much
to my surprise two rebate slips printed. One for $50 from BB and one for $20 from TDK, both were current rebates 1/6/2002 to 1/12/2002.
So in the end I am getting paid $10 to buy this drive. I am sure nobody knew about the rebates. The store manager even did a
price scan and did not mention anything about a rebate.
For those of you that had trouble buying an item at the shelf price. I know that Massachusetts law requires a store to give you lowest price listed for
an item, even if it's a typo. They are allowed to not honor a print ad price (like in the newspaper) , but must honor an in store price. I would have
threantened to call the Attorney Gerneral's office for fraud.
