This morning my LCD shut off and I noticed a burning smell. I let it sit for a while before hitting the power button again, and to my surprise it still works. However, it seems to be somewhat brighter at the same brightness settings. Is this something I need to worry about / fix, or should I leave it alone? I'm fairly handy with an iron but I haven't pulled it apart yet and am not sure if I'd easily be able to locate whatever failed, not knowing even roughly how things are wired on the inside.
Pertinent information:
BenQ FP241W - 24" MVA panel
~8 years old, used heavily
I have a second one that is somewhat dimmer than it was originally, which I use as a second screen. I'm rather attached to these screens, they have excellent image quality even by today's standards.
