Oh, of course... I'm saying the MAJORITY of people who bad mouth Microsoft aren't stupid enought to say that the attrocity of 9-11, which cost the lives of thousands of people, was caused by a software company which makes you pay for it's product...

Good point, infact Linux DOESNT have any professional cad, cam, fem apps. Also, i'm not talking about the cheap cad/cam apps, the apps i'm talking about usually are very costly. Infact, most apps like Pro/E, Gibbs, mastercam, cimatron, catia, solidworks, surfcam and Autocad are used by lots of aerospace, electronic, plastic/mold business, and i really doubt they are going to spend another $20,000-30K just to buy a another, or a linux license.

Your cluelessness is totally unbeliveably amazing... CAD /CAM has always been the domain of UNIX.. and now much of that software and user community is moving to Linux..

THE HIGH-END CAT/CAM products (the professional tier ABOVE AutoCad) are all UNIX apps and most run on Linux now..those used in the areospace, and automotive industries etc..

Such as:
VariCAD - VariCAD is one of the important SW houses in the CAD field in the Central Europe area. More than eleven years of development and distribution to dozens of countries signifies a great success.

Microstation - professional software for enterprise-scale engineering projects. It sets the stage for further software leadership in building/design and plant engineering, geoengineering, civil engineering, and mechanical engineering.

VXCad - a suite of CAD/CAM/CAE software modules for the design and manufacture of complex mechanical components and assemblies.

<< don't get me wrong, I do use and enjoy linux, but some people go too far with their attacks on microsoft... im suprised i havent heard anyone blame the terrorist attacks on microsoft yet >>

<sarcastic>

Oh you haven't heard of MS Flight Simulator?

</sarcastic>

Honestly, one of the reasons MS bashers take it seriously is because the lay-person does not under the anti-trust issues at all. They use Winblows at home and work, and assume it must be Gates' gift to mankind.

They can't understand how MS suppresses competition in the marketplace, because face it, most of us are not Economists. Although the argument is crystal clear to me, it's still an uphill battle to convince another person that the marketplace as a whole has been hurt by one company. It's obvious Netscape (and others) have been devastasted, but to show the industry has been hurt is not nearly as easy.

I agreee, there are good CAD products for Linux on the high end. But I'm not on the high end here. This is on my home system for some architectural drafting I'm doing for an addition I'm building this summer. I'm not going to spend several hundred -> several thousand dollars on a one of these programs. And QCad is very nice, but it doesn't really do what I want for this project, although I use it for some other things.

TurboCAD + Floorplan3D does almost everything I need for this project, and I don't know of its equivalent on Linux in the same price range (< $100).
