Bush noted that in addition to the budget deficit, America suffers from a huge trade deficit.

"That's easy to resolve," Bush said. "People can buy more United States products if they're worried about the trade deficit."

Bush's comments came a day after the government reported that America's trade deficit hit a monthly record of $55.5 billion in October.

A man with a plan.

Will people give more money to the government if they're worried about the budget deficit?

What an idiot. Even if he meant in jest, he's an idiot.

Bush is just pandering to Corporate America in an effort to boost their earnings and the salaries of the execs.

Didn't Bush say back in his youth that "people are poor because they are lazy"? This just shows that he is still a narrow-minded prick, just as he was back in his college days.

Hopefully the next 4 years will not be enough for him to run the US economy into the ground like he did his other business ventures.

*shrugs in disgust

I think we need an executive order to shut down all Wal-Marts. That would simultaneously resolve the trade deficit while sending a big "F U" to China.

hahahahaha hilarious,
anyone with a bit of economical sense would tell you its a clever thing to say

I don't know where notion of trade deficit being negative came from. In every single period of economic boom this country has had a trade deficit.

I don't even know where the notion of trade deficit = bad comes from. I mean both us (consumers) and the other country is better if we buy from them. If we have to switch to domestic sources, we'd be less better off (otherwise we'd be buying from domestic market to begin with).

And apparently when Bush is not worried about something, it doesn't rear its ugly head..

We make plenty in america still, guns, dry uninspired corprate fashion, a greedy souless music industry,
corprate software monopolies,
and our biggest contribution, can't forget good old american Fast food.
Culturally we have a growingly dangerous bigoted elitest backward theocratic mentality with a greedy eye to the world resources. Oh yeah and wars we make those now too. Guns did I menion guns? oh yeah. We still make lots of those.

Most clothing is made overseas but most also have American labels like Tommy and Calvin Klein. Same for all those Barbie and Haboro toys you are probably buying right now.
