The only problem with this is that Cheney would be president. I think the whole bunch are criminals. Can we do 'class-action' impeachments? There needs to be a serious investigation about how we got into the war in Iraq. But from what I gathered it has been based on lies and it's a shame that people have been killed and maimed based on lies. Now this investigation I wouldn't mind having 40 million dollars spent on.

Isn't this the "Phase II" part of the investigation, you know the one the Dems shut down Congress for, in protest of it being indefitately delayed. I think it still hasn't been finished, probably going to wait till after the midterms, or maybe they are hoping that people will just forget about it.

Well, I don't agree with Premise 1,2, or three---so you are again on a roll Prof. John

But some democrats and moderate Republicans are questioning if our stay in Iraq should be infinite---so they are voicing the obvious and thinking that Bush's plan is not working.
Other democrats are not advocating any sort of withdrawal---hardly an all democrat position---and so much for assumtion #1.

Yes many democrats and republicans are very disturbed about Bush's unconstitutional abuses in the name of security---but we don't have security in a failed war on terror ala bush--didn't you read the national intelligence estimate---WE ARE LESS SECURE DUE TO BUSH"S CONDUCT OF THE WAR---and we lose freedoms without gaining protections---so much for assumtion #2.

How much congressional time and money have been spent impeaching GWB???---answer---zero----so much for assumtion #3---if GWB is impeached---you can bet it will be Republicans leading the charge when its proved he deserves it and is a national embarrassement---but that is the fox news talking point---the Dems have no policy other than impeaching bush---maybe you need to listen to some debates between candidates and see how much of their time they spend advocating impeachment---and compare it to the time they spend advocating what position they take on various issues---before you try to spring that great lie on us.

The democratic party is not totally united---nor is the Republican party---only GWB seems cock sure of himself---and even that might be a virtue if he was a good predictor of results---and instead seems to screw up everything he touches. Even the economy is phony---and is financed with three Trillion---with a T of borrowed money.

Other than the economy the lone good point---every where else---its one endless failure after another.

So I clicked on the link. And the headline makes it sound like Dubbya said that the Ds can't be trusted to run congress.

Then I read the link. And nowhere in there did Dub say anything like that. In fact, they only quote one line from him.

The first paragraph was written by the AP - So the AP actually said what was in the headline.
STOCKTON, California (AP) -- President Bush, on a campaign swing in the West, is arguing the Democratic Party is weak-kneed on national security and shouldn't be trusted to hold the reins of Congress.

And the supporting quote they use from Dubbya is this:
"If you listen closely to some of the leaders of the Democratic Party, it sounds like -- it sounds like -- they think the best way to protect the American people is, wait until we're attacked again,"
So how did the AP/CNN come up with that headline?

It almost seems like a headline written to make the Rs sound even more desperate than they already are considering the Foley mess.

They have connections with our resident "sky is falling" member.

Day One: Put new rules in place to "break the link between lobbyists and legislation."

Day Two: Enact all the recommendations made by the commission that investigated the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

Time remaining until 100 hours: Raise the minimum wage to $7.25 an hour, maybe in one step. Cut the interest rate on student loans in half. Allow the government to negotiate directly with the pharmaceutical companies for lower drug prices for Medicare patients.

Broaden the types of stem cell research allowed with federal funds _ "I hope with a veto-proof majority," she added in an Associated Press interview Thursday.

All the days after that: "Pay as you go," meaning no increasing the deficit, whether the issue is middle class tax relief, health care or some other priority.

To do that, she said, Bush-era tax cuts would have to be rolled back for those above "a certain level." She mentioned annual incomes of $250,000 or $300,000 a year and higher, and said tax rates for those individuals might revert to those of the Clinton era. Details will have to be worked out, she emphasized.

"We believe in the marketplace," Pelosi said of Democrats, then drew a contrast with Republicans. "They have only rewarded wealth, not work."

"We must share the benefits of our wealth" beyond the privileged few, she added.

Pelosi, 66, has been a leader of the House Democrats since 2002. But her political apprenticeship dates to childhood, when her father was mayor of Baltimore.
Sounds reasonable to me. What's wrong with implementing the 9/11 commission stuff? What's wrong with trying to reduce the deficit?
Of course, none of this stuff is going to happen, due to various factors, one of which is the extremely dim prospect of the Dems even coming near to taking control. ANd Bush will just roadblock every move they might want to make anyway. But a guy can dream!

Well Dems may not be as good at running a corrupt government well as Repubs but at least young boys seem a lot safer.

The Country has a choice, we'll see which way they choose this time around.

Lets see here.

-Pervert Republicans eroding values

-Elimination of personal freedoms (wiretap, patriot act)

-Endangerment of soldiers (circumvention and redefinition of Geneva conventions)

-Massive spending, tax cuts, and debt despite relatively strong inflows
Unfettered wiretaps, no investigations

-Abuse of power, circumvention of checks and balances in pre-war intelligence manipulation

-Borrowing from the future to create more pork-barrel and shackle future generations with higher debt

-A "No child left behind" act that has funding that was left behind

-Afghanistan in disarray

-Iraq in deep crap

-Prescription drug plan compounding debt

-700mi wall that isn't funded, no comprehensive plan to deal with illegals and open boarders

-Massive corruption in Repub party (abramoff)

-Overall lack of any checks against the executive branch

-Speeches by Congress approved cabinet members that say that Congress and USSC has no power over the President

Yeah, we can *REALLY* trust the Republicans to run congress. In 6 years they have failed to check or balance the President, protect their constituations, balance the budget, controll spending, limit rights abuses, cut down on election fraud, cut down on candidate funding fraud, create any type of good plan to help social security out, fund any type of child program, and not do anything about illegal immigration.

Thats a pretty good list.....Problem is, I dont know who your talking about. Democrats? Republicans?
Most likely both I assume.
