Is this Bush's big "breakthrough"?
OMG! We now have 102 uses for dead cats! They can be turned into biodiesel!

Bush close to a breakthrough?????????????
What is meant is that despite spending cuts some science types are closer to making some technologies
economically feasable-------Bush himself could not breaktrough a paper bag.---but wants the credit if someone
else does.
Given that science writing almost always exagerates---puffing even minor work into groundbreaking discoveries.
Scientists are the group most distrustful of these writings.
If we want to be energy independent, politicians with vision make funding decisions long term. Now that the pressure is
on, Bush seeks a savoir in science writers, who will puff minor discoveries into the energy vision Bush should have had years ago.
Good effort, but forty years of leadership by our liberial intelligentsia is what has put us in this mess. The energy crisis started to be publicly known in 1973. Count the Dims who didn't do jack all since then and tell me why this is an all Bush issue.

Truth is Carter was right about many, many things. He was just ahead of his time.Originally posted by: CaptnKirk

Doesn't hol up to scrutiny:
1969 - 1974 = Nixon (GOP)
1974 - 1977 = Ford (GOP)
1977 - 1981 = Carter (DEM)
1981 - 1989 = Reagan (GOP)
1989 - 1993 = Bush I (GOP)
1993 - 2001 = Clinton (DEM)
2001 - Armageddon = Bush II (GOP)
That's NOT 40 years, from 1969 under Nixon to date is 37 years total.
In that timeframe, Dem's were in the Oral Office for a total of 12 years.
That leaves 25 years of GOP control and 21 years under that control since
the energy issue came into focus.
At least Jimmy Carter encouraged people to keep their pants on to stay warm -
while telling the public with his 'Fireside Chats' that Midlle East Oil was a threat.
Your getting as bad as Dave. Do you even know what GOP stands for? heres the corrected list:Originally posted by: CaptnKirk

GOP refers to the party that controls congress. If not, then why were the dems referred to as the GOP in the late 80's early 90's?

I thought that they had a breakthrough with the Florida Connection with Bubba Jeb when I read this:
development of biofuels such as "cellulosic'' ethanol made from wood chips or sawgrass
Since 'Sawgrass' is found in the swamps of the Everglades.
It's not a very good choice of a potential source of energy.
There is a biological resource know as 'Switchgrass' that does have the potential to be a viable source of Ethanol alcohol
through the use of the destructive distallation process, and it does have a fairly high yeild per acre potential.
More switchgrass for the huddled masses
