Kinda scary thinking that kind of performance is what the nation has to look forward to for the next 4 years.

Lets hope he suprises us with a more humane approach to the real problems that face every day working families. Anything he does now will benifit those poor unfortunates in Texas as well as the rest of America, and he says he's a uniter, not a devider. Thats good. We'll see.

ummmm... he won it by the rules...

you fail to mention that texas is about 38th of 51 in per capita income. not like we're rich or something like all you californians and new yorkers...

plus, the governor of texas is a largely powerless figurehead. much like the president in france. the prime minister is where the real power is. lt gov rick perry has more power.

Let's hope that while he is in office he will get rid of a lot of those stupid social programs that take my money.

I was just going to ignore this thread as the mindless ravings of the misinformed, but this is just too good a chance.

lowfatbaconboy, Exactly which of Pres. Elect Bush's picks for the cabinet do you have a problem with and why?

etech, the President of the United States of America is the chief executive officer, if you will, of this great nation. Never once in the job description is it said that he is the chief executive advisee. Of course a president needs a good cabinet, one man can't do everything by himself, but I really can't see Bush doing much if anything on his own.

<sarcasm>But on the other hand he is just so personable, funny, and human- so it's cool. </sarcasm> :|

baconbits,

Texas has a democrate controled house/senate.

Also Texas could easly control pollution if we turn off the oil refineries that the rest of the country relies on.

blah blah.... don't you think the best people to judge whether or not he did a good job in Texas would be .. TEXANS?? You suppose he won his second term in a landslide because they thought he sucked?

Your little list means absolutely nothing, it's obviously created by 'objective' people working at some place like "The Nation" or some other crap like that. Give it up. Bush won, the Gorons lost. Bush will do a good job by putting the right people around him.

<<lets move on to prove he is an idiot...>>

Nope, your post just proves that you are the idiot

Russ - yes Bush won but he is gona be a bad president.

etch - Foreign relations... the woman he got has been teaching for the past 2 years and from some of what her students and others have said she is not very intelligent
and urm Powell we honestly need someone other than a General as our Sec of State

zippy - but when your president is an idiot you must hope that he has good cabinet to advise him... otherwise we are gona be screwed

charrison - that may be so but that doesn't affect everything else in the stats such as education and what not

tagej - Texas is a Republican state and I honestly don't think highly of the general public in Texas or any other place of the country.

furthur more his 1.3 bill tax cut is not liked by greenspan...so he will raise interest rates thus causing a recession

the extra military spending won't help either

That's nice Zippy, I will give your opinion all the weight it deserves.

Pres. Elect Bush is off to a good start with good appoinments to his cabinet. That is all that needs be said at this time.

Uh low fat bacon boy, can you find those same stats for the time that Democratic Gov. Ann Richards was in office?

Xede,

Who cares where he got it from? The same bogus trash was already posted a dozen times by the liberals during the election debating around here. It's not just old news, it's dead news.

Wow, Russ has exhausted all logical arguments and he is now on his "old news" tirade once again. Didn't take very long for him to get to it this time...

for questionable cabinet and other appointees, how about the current proposal of roger staubach for the head of the navy. i know he was once in the navy or played for them in college, but i dont' think that qualifies him to be in command of it. bush should probably consider appointing an admiral or someone who knows what he's doing rather than a texas flunky.

as for letting the texas residents evaluate bush, baconboy is. he is a texas native so i think he has more say on how "our beloved governor" has done with the state than most of you guys

with the pollution, shutting down the oil mining would be one way. another which bush has ignored would be to reinstate the regulations he dissolved on industry, when he pushed a bill that allows them to regulate themselves. this has led to the states horrible pollution and to houston and san antonio being among the nation's top cities in air pollution.
