LowFatPiglet:

I've seen that before, per Russ, but it bears repeating. Since the right wing responded in droves, you spiked their blood pressure. Way to go dude. We'll kill 'em with facts yet!

<< as for letting the texas residents evaluate bush, baconboy is >>

Well, let us look at that. Bush slaughtered Gore in Texas. Looks like you guys already "evaluated" him. Gore's home state "evaluated" him too. Gore lost there as well. Again, HaHa.

Texas a republican state? Not till Bush was elected. Before Bush was elected in '94, democrats held on to the Governer spot for 50 years if I remember my Texas history correctly. Democrats have control of the house and senate, the democrats controlled both most of Bush's 6 years in office. Sad that a person from Texas doesn't know this. LOL.

The pollution in Texas has been around for ages, and it HAS NOT gotten worse over Bush's 6 years. Hasn't gotten any better either.

Im getting pretty ticked at these fvcking liberals knocking Powell. He is a great man, he has done wonderful things for this country, for miniorities and for everyone. He served this country, hes done more than any of you spineless saps will ever do.

As for Military spending. Its needed, desperatly, enlisted men and women get paid very little. A shame really they do more for this country than most and are treated with little or no respect.

SJ:

Do you have any data from a reliable source to back up your claim that pollution hasn't gotten any worse in Texas under Bush?

Texas already evaluated Gov. Bush.

The first time when they elected him for a second term as Governor.

Does anyone want to guess how many Governors of Texas have been accorded that honor?

Chess9, anytime someone is spreading lies and distortions, I try and correct them. Perhaps that is why I respond to so many of your posts.

SJ,

In order to assist you in that endeavor, let me provide a list of what Chess9 would consider "reliable" sources:

Salon Magazine
Slate Magazine

<begin sarcasm>
This is a suprise, more Democratic spin based on half-truths.
<end sarcasm>

As others have said, the people of Texas elected him to a second term because he improved the situation down there. Face it, he was a popular governor because he did a good job. He will continue his success as president.

Russ - do you ever have anything imporatant to say you just seem to jabber on about how everything is propoganda or bogus.... i don't see liberals calling everything you and other conservatives post as bogus.
on the second count once again i think the american people in general are a bunch of ignorant sloths -- so how they voted against gore doesn't concern me because i bet 80% of voters don't get much info on their canidate before voting (although ill look some stats up on the idiocy of voters)

are you listening?...give me some FACTS, yes you heard me FACTS....to back up your inane ramblings

Sj - Umm i didn't say 94 now did I? Im not living in the past at the moment Texas is a Republican state thats why some 60+ percent voted for Bush in the prez election

Format C - umm lets see some factual evidence proving -everything- else i have posted has been lies?

"2,038,200 New Jobs: 2,038,200 new jobs have been created in Texas since 1993 -- an average of 268,774 per year, compared to an average of only 153,075 jobs per year in the previous administration. "
one simple statement:
ummm economy has been doing well since 93 almost every state has had more jobs and been more prosporus....NEXT

lets see some data as to how texas has done better than other states since 93 (population wise too)instead of previous administrators....just for sh!ts n giggles

OOOHHH and next time read the title "PRESIDENT CLINTON AND VICE PRESIDENT GORE?S ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Texas"

that doesn't say Bush's accomplishments now does it?

texas had democrat governors from the end of reconstruction until 1982 i think. then a republican for 2 terms, the ann, then bush. we've had plenty of two term govs, but it used to be until recently that terms were 2 years long.

hmmm... peeps in LA drive 4 banger calif emmissions accords... peeps in houston drive v8 f150s... guess where the pollution really comes from?

ElFenix that is a unfair statment on the kind of cars people drive

<< the woman he got has been teaching for the past 2 years and from some of what her students and others have said she is not very intelligent >>

Inaccurate and completely incorrect. She is far more intelligent than you will ever be. Read this article and then say that she is not exceptionally intelligent and qualified indivdual. She earned a bachelors degree at the age of 19, a doctorate at the age of 26 and became a college professor immediately afterwards. She advised the former President Bush on national security matters, and has since 1993 been the provost of Stanford University.

<< and urm Powell we honestly need someone other than a General as our Sec of State >>

Do you have any sort of basis for this other than that he isn't a left wing nitwit like yourself?

<< so he will raise interest rates thus causing a recession >>

The financial markets disagree with you. Most are speculating that at the next Fed meeting rates will not be changed. The economy is already slowing, and Greenspan and the rest of the Fed know it. Rate hikes are an extremely unlikely prospect given the current economic indicators.

<< with the pollution, shutting down the oil mining would be one way. another which bush has ignored would be to reinstate the regulations he dissolved on industry, when he pushed a bill that allows them to regulate themselves. this has led to the states horrible pollution and to houston and san antonio being among the nation's top cities in air pollution. >>

From the Cato Institute:For example, consider the charge that Houston has overtaken Los Angeles as the smoggiest city in America. This, not to put too fine a point on it, is a lie. If we do what the Environmental Protection Agency does to determine whether a metropolitan area is in compliance with federal air quality standards--that is, tally up the number of violations at the designated "worst case" air quality monitor for each city--Houston violated federal ozone (smog) standards 11 times in 1995 (Bush's first year in office), 15 times in 1996, 12 times in 1997, 10 times in 1998, 18 times in 1999 and 14 times so far this year. L.A. violated federal smog standards 65 times in 1995, 62 times in 1996, 30 times in 1997, 57 times in 1998, 35 times in 1999 and 17 times so far this year. EPA then averages the number of violations over a three-year period to determine whether an area is in or out of compliance. By that official yardstick, over the most recent three-year window, L.A. averaged 36 violations--33 more than the law allows--while Houston averaged 14. Data to the contrary naming Houston as No. 1 in smog is simply cooked and its methodologies deemed inappropriate and misleading by the EPA. More facts disproving your claims are contained in the referenced article. Do these facts shed a little light on SJ's claims, chess9?

These stats are useless as hell. In case you haven't noticed, Texas borders some other country, one which is a major contributor to illegal immigration to the United States (if you need a hint, it starts with 'M'). I'd guess that the people immigrating aren't doing so because they've got too much money and need to buy a third mansion. Of cource information like this doesn't help the liberal propaganda, so it gets ignored. We could move on and make the other half of your statistics look like useless dogsh!t in an abandoned fertilizer plant, but I've got work to do.

Just one more "fact" to toss in here...

<< Highest homes insurance rates in the nation 1 >>

Hey, stupid... this has NOTHING to do with Bush. Have you seen the kind of weather we get down here? Fort Worth is the unofficial hail capital of the state... no wonder the insurance rates are through the roof!

Do some research before you go spewing crap all over the place! :|

baconboy,

You are right, some of things that did happen are because of federal funds.
Shame the state has beg to get money back that local tax payers could have paid.
