I did a search for "Bushnell" on their homepage and got several pages, including the telescopes. BTW, the description of the scopes is dubious. The reflectors I looked at were called refractors! Bushnell is strictly bush league in terms of optic quality, but these may be good deals with the discount.

Word of warning. All bushnell telescopes are crap. Period. I'm not sure of the star telescope.

Check any telescope web site (sky&telescope) and you can confirm for yourself.

Stick with Celestron and Meade for quality telescopes. (among many other names).

sorry to the purests but the 6" dob no tax no shipping @ $ 174 is very good deal for a beginer scope, nothing else looks too interesting to me ...compare a meade 6" dob @ astronmics for 249 + 39 shipping= $288, I own a meade and a celestron and they both give great views but $174 please hold my hand back from completing the sale....

I'm a newbie, but very interested in a getting a decent startup telescope, was interested in the other ones that have the computerized finding of objects. Is that option any good or do u suggest sticking with the 6" one as a better option and forego on the computerized finder?

also, what exactly is the dobsonian mount? looks like you have to get something to mount the baby on, since it doesn't come with legs?

I went to the sky site and read up on "how to buy a scope" since noone answered immedietely, and found that they recommended the dobs most so went ahead with that since although i knew bushnell can't be that great, at 174 it must be an awesome deal!

atari, a dob (dobsonian) mount is a box on a swivel plate like a lazy susan kitchen thing ( you know like a rotating spice rack) you pick up the tube put it on the base and bam you are ready to observe, thats why people love them ,also cheaper to build then tripod ones, also low vibration when you move the scope, the tube move left right and up down, simple to use......clear skies
