what is wrong with this guy?

he is in a suit and tie giving a speech. who is he talking to? the people in the affected areas have no electricity and cant hear him. this is a bad move.

remember, his dad handled Andrew badly and he is following him.

hey Bush, get off Crawford, go to Alabama at least since going to Lousiana is not safe. take that suit and tie off, and show that you at least are very concerned. to me, it doesn't seem like the White House is too concerned. this disaster is not much smaller in scale than 9/11. Bush needs to treat it as such

our leader and leaders can do more. a lot more

You're absolutely right.

This is Bush's chance to get his approval ratings out of the gutter. In some ways I'm glad to see him fumble and blow this chance, but the country could really use a good leader right now. But I'm sure Karl Rove will realize this soon.

does he even think about what he's going to say before a 'speech'? it's painful listening to him talk - does it really take that much more effort to put together a few coherent sentences without repetition?

The fringe left is spinning themselves into a tizzy over this because they just know that if they throw enough tripe out there that the MSM is going to take the bait on atleast one of the hooks. The problem is that the MSM won't realize it's stink-bait until it's too late. When will they(MSM) learn not to keep opening the door on their own noses?

Well he does have to address it in some way. I'm not too sure what he should do differently.

As far as disasters go, this may prove to be larger than 9/11. We do not yet know how much damage there is.

WTF? Folks, this is MUCH worse than 9/11.

Sheehan threads are minuscule compared to the amount of shrill anti-Bush threads here.

BTW, the only thing sliming sheehan were her own words and actions.

I am just glad we haven't overspent in Iraq and that we still have plenty of National Guard Members here to do the necessary work

And that is the problem with the current administration.

We have had almost 4 years to prepare for a major disaster. We knew a major storm could hit landfall at any point along the coast. But apparently instead of having a worse case plan to start from they FEMA and the BUsh administration are winging it.

5 days to get personnel and equipment rolling and maybe into a area closer to the expected disaster area.

If they can't figure out how to build contingence plans hire someone from the War Plans department of the Pentagon to show your personnel how to do it.

Not as much as Al Gore did going to the global warming convention.

I'm not sure you can blame Bush for being true to his nature. There's always an "imminent" disaster of some sort on the horizon, but how many voters expected Bush to be the person that was "planning" for it?

Bush was elected (and re-elected) b/c Democrats rallied behind "problem solvers", while Republicans (and a significant minority of Independents) wanted a face man.

Having said that, it's not like you can blame Bush for bad planning in Louisiana. The people lived in a friggin' bowl surrounded by water! Now you can certainly blame Bush for having diverted thousands of National Guard (Iraq) and hundreds of billions (Iraq) but that's about it.

Wow! Coming from you that must mean he's in REAL trouble.

Anyway, did anyone see his interview with Diane Sawyer this morning on Good Morning America?

Disgusting. His complete lack of compassion showed through. He even cackled once and then smiled/laughed re:his delay in getting back to D.C.

Re: Looters, he said there should be a ZERO TOLERANCE policy. Even people getting food/water (since they've been w/o potable water for FOUR DAYS) should be arrested. They should wait for help to arrive. :| :|

Re: gas prices, Diane Sawyer asked him if oil companies should cut profits, even a conservative host said a 20% cut in this time of crisis.

His response? Avoided the question and said he wanted to see corporations and people give money to charity organizations to help out in the south.

WTF?!?

We know where his true loyalties lie now.

She also questioned him that people in NOLA expected an armada of help the day after the storm and now it's 4 days later and still not enough help.

Hiss answer? Help is on the way.

He avoided the question...he did that all interview.

She's saying now she asked him about air drops of water and food and his response was that it was not very efficient.

WHO CARES?! These people are literally dying of thirst!

Now there are reports of a fire in a trash chute in the Superdome. People are being exited out.

Also, evacuation from the Superdome has been suspended due to shots being fired at buses.

Complete mayhem and not enough security down there to handle it. Yay.

He's missed his window of opportunity to be pro-active on this event.
If he had been paying attention the preparation for a worst case scenario would have been implemented on Saturday,
staged on Sunday and the responders would have been in motion at Noon on Monday ariving as the storm subsided in the affected area.

But taking a vacation is hard work.
He didn't want to hear negative things, like "Excuse me, Mr. President, but we've got a disaster in the making."
