It depends. MicroCenter had the same deal 2 weeks ago, but less rebate. Anyways, if you see one that says "Smartburn" its a Lite-On. If you see one that says "Justburn" or "Justlink" than its an Aopen (think, "Justsucks" ).

Good deal though if you get the Lite-On....its sweet (but can be loud)

The 10 off 50 is a better deal for me because the scanner is crappy and the taxes almost equal the difference if I didn't get the scanner and another FAR item.

If it is not a smartburn then you can just return it to the store.

They just haven't update most of the prices yet on the website. This is common for staples. By the time they change them, most of the stuff will be OOS. You can always call them after the order is processed to get the price changed to the sale price. I have done this many times and never had a problem. Just remember to have over the amount you need for the coupon after the price adjustments or they will through out the coupon after they adjust the price.

Is a liteon or not doesn't matter, $20 is a good deal....oh well, after the coupon, it is only $10 + tax.

While I was at work today I went into high ticket and saw that we have about 20 of these drives. All Smartburn (liteon)

We really didnt sell alot of them today. We sold more to people who worked at the store then to customers. People up here on Cape Cod dont appreciate great deals i guess

Just a quick note, there are 2 different type of drives at Staples. One Staples I went to had 52x24x52 drives, but they had Justlink and Justspeed on the packaging, which is Ricoh technology used by Aopen. The one you want is the one that has Smart Burn on the box. That drive is a Liteon . The drive is the same one packaged by Cendyne and Liteon of course. The model number on the drive is 52246S. So just beware of whats written on the box.

if i may ask, how much better is the Liteon drive compared to the AOpen? Also, would there be much difference if this would be mainly used to burn cd's at 24x?

why 24x? Your 24X cdr may work with higher speed than its said. (may be up 40x)

I think the software that come with it is more important.
And the best to offer for these high speed cdrw is the 24X CDRW part.
