Actually, their wool is quite expensive.
It's one of (if not the) softest wools there is.
I highly doubt the interest in raising them will die out, and, as far as supply and demand goes, they're no longer allowed to be imported. Thus, the supply has drastically decreased. Suggesting that the interest in farming them will die is like suggesting the interest in farming sheep or pigs or cows will die.
