The folks at Bentley are offering an onboard PC running at an awesome 1GHz and a "massive" 256K of RAM as part of the deal

I hope they don't back out of this like Dell always does.

Is it just me, or has the Bentley brand lost flavor since it was taken over by Volkswagon AG in 1998? It was good to see the Rolls Royce owership moved from Volkswagon AG to BMW, in 2002, but Bentley remains a VW company. I don't think that I would be interested in a "Bentley" make by VW, even if it does come with a "free" PC.

Thanks for the HOT deal I was going to buy a Rolls and a cheap computer, but now I am going to get the Hookup on the Bentley with the free computer. I think after I trade in my Accord, I will have a reasonable monthly payment, for the end of time.

Rolls and Bentleys just don't do it for me.

But I do like the S Class Mercedes, out of my ballpark though.

You are absolutely right. However, many years ago I did own a used Rolls. After driving it for 2 years, I made a few bucks off of it. Today, in retirement, I certainly couldn't afford either a Rolls or a Bentley.

I would trust VW over BMW any day. At least VW makes cars that last, and can be worked on and are supported by decent dealerships. Have you ever been in a BMW service department? Not bad cars, just getting really really ugly and have horrible dealer network. I have both, VW's (1 currently and at least 10 in the past) and BMW's (1 currently) and BMW's service/parts department is horrible. I have been to at least 6 and all have been rude and unwilling to help. I get better service on from Mercedes and it is for a grey market car, MBUSA never even imported the car. But that is why they are rated one of the worst for service. Not as much prestige as BMW but VW supports it's products better and keeps the costs reasonable. VW is also much more innovative. So if I were dropping a quarter of a million on a car I would trust VW over BMW to keep me happy any day, of course I am not going to be dropping that kind of money on a car even if I could not even if they throw in a free computer.
