Which is about one every 1-2 months (depending on the # of pages you get). You can make them last a bit longer by programming the watch to deactivate the pager portion during certain times.

edit - btw it runs on hearing aid batteries rather than regular watch batteries

Another thing about those batteries - despite the notation on the type of hearing aid batteries it uses (675 rings a bell?...or something similar), it won't work with just any brand. Most brands are too narrow to work, and I forget which brand WILL work. It's either Energizer or Duracell...if I don't find the answer soon (I've got the package around here somewhere), someone else will verify it.

Dear lord...at this point it's cheaper to simply get a new watch and renew this deal instead of paying for the plan on my existing watch.

BTW, Energizer was indeed the brand that worked.

Has anyone reached the end of their free year yet? I swear I have had mine well over a year and I am still getting free service. Yes they go through batteries but buy them in like an 8 pack and they are not that expensive. I am using Duracell?s at the moment but the pack I went through before were indeed Energizer. Yes the messages must be kept short. I travel regularly and love the ?flextime? feature. My audible feature (beep/chime) stopped working a few months ago though. I just may have to get another.

For anyone with a decent cell phone, these are a waste and that's why they're going so cheap (ugly too). I bought one a year ago and got too much razzing from co-workers.

I have one of these and I love it. It definitely eats batteries (one every month or two), so you have to keep spares around. It comes with four batteries. Replacement batteries are cheap ($10.99 for 16 batteries at Radio Shack). The messaging feature is cool and very easy to use. The range is very good. The flextime (the watch resets to local time when you travel) is very nice. I have the blue one and I think it looks fine. I will definitely get a new one if the paging service runs out at the end of the year.

Ahh man.... don't even get service in my crudy little town. Anyone else in rural towns that get service? Basically the only cell phone service that works here is T Mobile. I don't think the watch would work. But, does anyone know where the 20% off coupon I may try it. Also, if it dosn't work does this look like a watch? Or is it some huge bulky geeky looking things?

Cool! Thanks, Joker!

And just in time, too! The one I bought last year just expired. $99 to renew service for a year, or $50 for a new watch with a year's service. Hmmm... lemme do the math here...

For those who must carry a pager, this is a great product. I've used it for 2 years, and I love it. My answer machine pages me whenever I get a message, and people love how quick I get back to them. The battery lasts 1-2 months, with up to 10 pages a day on vibrate mode. Also, if people call the 800 number to page you, their phone number is captured on caller id and sent to your watch (even if they have caller ID blocking!) I own 3 of these, as each time they have expired I have just bought another watch rather than reuppping at $99. I actually keep hoping these deals end, as one of the 3 watches is the version that not only has paging, but also holds 100 phone contacts as a mini-PIM, and I'd like to use it, but I'm too cheap to pay the higher paging fees.

I should add that I don't carry a cell-phone turned on, however. If you do, then this would be redundant.

Oh, it does work nationally. I was recently on Martha's Vineyard, and got paged from California on the beach!!!

Yes you do need to be in a Skytel service area for it to work. Besides having the toll free number assigned to you and your watch you can set up a simpler whatever@skytel.com address to give to friends and family. I work for an airline and travel often. The flextime works even at 30K feet. The only problem I?ve had is when it picks up a new time zone at altitude from some metropolitan area that is say 100 miles away, but you then land in a rural area in a different time zone and it's set to the time that it last received. You just have to do a quick manual time set. My wife always sends me pages from home several states away when I?m on the road. Did I mention it tells time? Total geek status when you tell people someone just e-mailed your watch. If they're still this cheap when mine stops functioning, I'll buy another for sure.
Edit:meant to link to skytel maps. click on "coverage" link here

If all else fails, Google for timex promotional code it was the 3rd or 4th link on the first page where I found the 20% off coupon.

$40 for the watch and 1 year of paging? Heck my pager costs $24.95 a month so I placed my order!

The promotion code is "MASTER2003". I'm sorry to break any rules (if I did). I am just trying to make it easier for someone buying!

When does this deal end? Also, is there anyway to transfer the service to a real pager?

That's a good idea, seeing if you can transfer service. I will ask about that when I call the 1-800 number to see if theres service in my area!

WARNING!!! You may get a used watch in this deal.
Mine arrived today.
It was scratched on the back and the face.
The battery compartment cover was missing.

Don't toss out your box and packing slip until you've had a chance to look it over. :|

Oh man if I get a used watch I'm gonna raise heck with them, it doesn't say anywhere on the site that you might get a used watch, unless it's deep in the fine print somewhere.
