I already have a EVGA 970 SC ACX2.0 should I buy another and SLI, or go with a single 980Ti?

I play at 1920x1080. But I do use a Benq 2430t (144hz).

What would you do?

Having ran 970 SLI for a while and currently using a 980ti, I would say go 980ti.

GTX 980 Ti, no question. SLI is to be avoided if possible, only used when you cannot get any more single GPU performance.

980 ti @ 1080p is so beast. I'd just go for that. And then SLI that bad boy. Could you imagine any game needing more than SLI 980 ti's @ 1080p, would have to look like reality.

Having used both, I'd go 980 Ti. Once overclocked, you'll get similar performance to 970 SLI, without any of the SLI hassles.

Single card, always. SLI is great when it works, but that isn't 100% of the time (or even 80% of the time).

I also vote 980Ti. I tested a pair of eVGA 970's (an FTW and an SSC) when I got my 980Ti Classified.

The 980Ti scored higher in every benchmark than the 970 SLI. Once I overclocked it, the 970's had nothing on it. (Along with almost half the VRAM)

Bottom line is the 970s should get 5-10% better average fps than a single 980Ti in games that SLI works well. Maybe not 4k, cause yea the effective 3.5gb on the 970s is not going to cut it for newer games. Shouldn't be much of an issue at 1080p.

Course if SLI is poorly implemented or not at all, you're going to have a huge disparity in favor of the 980. That's why 980Ti is better.

Course it is your money though. I've seen new 970s in the $230 range using Jet.com. Best deals on the 980Ti are around $550? Not sure what you could get from the sale of a used 970.

Wait for better cards this year. Seriously, why waste your money for marginal performance gains for < 6 months when new cards come out? By then even if you want a 980ti, you can get one for 30% less than today.

At this point I'd wait. They already fired the entire Maxwell driver team and hired some fresh young recruits and they are getting warmed up to start doing some serious Pascal driver code. No one has seen the Kepler driver team in many months. They probably just dug a hole in the desert for those guys by now.
I'd just wait to start your 18 month subscription with Pascal. My subscription is nearly expired and you'd be signing up late in the subscription cycle. Paying a full $600 for less than half a subscription is not a good idea since product support stops suddenly after 18 months. At least wait for Pascal and get your full 18 months, but make sure you only buy once! Don't let them trick you into buying twice! That's two subscription fees for the same lousy 18 months of support! Don't do it!

Give me a list to run and if I have the games, I'll run fraps during gaming and report back.

Will do when I get back home. In the meantime, may I ask how much you got your monitor for? I like LG more but just found out that your is Curve and is height adjustable.

Thanks

I got mine for a hair over $700. It's a very nice screen, the curve is definitely a noticeable positive by 34" 21:9, and the stand is great.
