I think this was a DOTD before for $100. I could be mistaken. Outpost has an IBM 2.4 for $50 w/free overnight shipping, Item # 93737.

Slightly off topic reply , but if you happen to read this MrBakaSan, any chance you could post some more hints on upcoming Deals of the Day?

I soooo wish buy.com would put up another Sony vaio laptop (or similar one)!!! I missed out on that deal (it was just a few days before I found and started compulsively reading this forum...

Really not a deal at all... Go with the outpost one. Who needs a $100+ phone for their personal calls.

This is an awesome phone... I've been looking for ones like these for a while... I mean cmon, digital answerer, 2.4 gighertz, dual keypad etc etc... Panasonic makes kick ass phones. I've never heard of IBM making anything good except computers

My $.02

While these are good phones (I have the model above this one)This is not really that hot of a deal. I says that this unit retails for 219.99 wtf! everyone slls this model for 169.99 so you are savin 20.00 if this is the model that you are looking for, I have sen these on sale in stores for about the same price though! but if you use a 20 off 100 or 30 off 150 than this is a good deal. well i hope that helps you all out on this DOTD! Seee you in 24 hours!

I have an older Panasonic 2.4GHz which I bought about 2 years ago. It is a really nice cordless phone and includes an excellent digital answering machine.

Note, however, that this buy.com DOD does not include a digital answerer.

If it is like mine, it is built like a tank and has excellent features and sound quality.

While the money differance is one thing, I dont think you can even begin to compare a caller id, digital speakerphone, dual keypad, splash resistant, drop resistant, headset compatible phone with NiMH battery and a bunch of bells and whistels to a generic nothing of an IBM phone. Also, if everybody sells it for $169, at $139 with free shipping, and those $20 and $30 off coupons floating around, I think its a pretty good deal. They have certainly had worse DOTD than this one. Anyway, thats my 2cents. And, I am prob gonna grabe a phone

BTW Outpost sells the model under this phone for $149

The main reason for the IBM being cheaper is that it is analog 2.4gig, so it can be listened upon, the panasonic is digital 2.4g. I have the panasonic and in LA it goes about 2 blocks with buildings, definitely the longest distance for home phones, unless you get one of those super antenna things for your place.

heh heh....

no specific dates, prices, quantites given....I only give that info to folks I know elsewhere...

some things to look for soon...and again, these are always subject to change on a product manager's whim...

an Acer P3 laptop w/ DVD....Lenny Kravitz's Greatest Hits, some Bushnell Telescope, Game Boy Color...
good luck if any of these pique your interest..

PIO!
DO YOU STILL JUB US ALL!?!?!? and yer coming down to go camp out for ps2's right?

heh, I'm but a lowly..well, not that lowly....software engineer here..
I make none of the business decisions like what we sell, what we put in DOTD, etc etc...

I am but a guy who sits in his cube while all the business, marketing, product managers, etc. crowd around my cube arguing with one another to see whose pet project will be assigned to me to spend my time on...

The panasonic phone rocks because its 2.4 Gigaherz DIGITAL and thats why it costs so much more. No one looks at that - it makes such a big difference in range of the phone and voice quality!! The cheap 2.4 giggers are 2.4 analog, MUCH lower quality. Also, be aware that port. phone descriptions try to trick you by including "digital answering machine" directly after the 2.4 g frequency rating so that it looks like its 2.4 g digital instead of analog - tricky bastards!

Me? Im goin for one of those 5 mile range phones advertised here yesterday. Happy hunting everyone!
