Wow a Playstation 2 at MSRP.....what a deal. Of course I could just walk into Best Buy and pick up one of the 7 I saw there this afternoon. Are there any areas left that don't have a sufficient supply still?

True but not everyone has a Best Buy or other retail store near 'em that has a PS2 in stock. Plus some people have Buy.com GCs burning a hole in their pocket and since Buy.com is in financial turmoil they should probably use those GCs soon.

I really want to get my hands on one for the upcoming Metal Gear Solid (Son of Liberty) and GT3, but I bet Sony will drop the price once XBox comes out and so I'll wait for it a little longer.

I hear ya but I'd go back to October 26, 2000 which I think was the official US release date? Then you could have easily eGayed one of these PS2's for around $700 maybe more.

I egayed my mod Japanese PS2 plus games and 2 controllers at Sept for $1400 haha... I bought a few more in HK, and egayed them for profit as well. God bless Sony and USA

The BB and CompUSA both have PS2s in stock over here...and they aren't selling very high on *bay now...saw a brand new one go for 290 there. I think the shortage is starting to become a non-issue...

I really dont see the point in running out to buy one of these unless they drop in price in a big way and someone has a nice fat coupon to add onto the price drop, or until some of the really sought after games are released...since oddworld inhabitants - makers of Abe's Oddysee, etc. was seduced to the Dark Side (read: Microsoft threw an enormous amount at them to develop for XBox) that throws a wrench in one of the reasons I couldn't live without a PS2 (Munch's Oddysee). Though to be honest, If I could find one of these for 200 bux somewhere i'd get one. The DVD player + gaming ability is worth that at this point.

In San Francisco, Sony Metreon has an adequate supply. Also the Circuit City superstore has had them in stock for a week and had 20+ at the end of the day yesterday. $299.99.
