My camera arrived this morning, although it still said "sent to warehouse" when I checked last night. Strange. Anyway... the camera is awesome! Lots of cool little bells and whistles. There are only a couple of things that I don't like about it:
1. You can only transfer images via Serial connection... which is SLOW. It takes longer just to load the thumbnails than it takes to transfer entire images from my Ricoh via USB.
2. As far as I can tell, you can only take pictures in two resolutions... 640 x 480 and 1800 x 1200. I filled up the 8 MB card that came with the camera with only 12 640 x 480 pictures, taken with high detail.
Other than that, I love everything about it. I'm not really sure why this camera received bad reviews from some people. It's very easy to use, and has a really nice feel to it. The LCD screen is nice and big, and very clear. The 3x optical zoom is a definate plus, and picture quality is excellent.
For those of you who ordered one of these cameras, if you are planning on keeping it, I strongly recommend ordering a card reader to transfer pictures to your computer with. The serial is way too slow. I ordered a card reader from Outpost.com for $49.99 (sku #: 40798) which reads both SmartMedia cards and Compact Flash cards. Paid for it with Flooz money that got from Why.com a while back.
Overall, this was an awesome deal on a nice camera... I give it two thumbs up After about five minutes of playing with this thing, I decided that my Ricoh RDC-6000 was auction material. Just thought I'd let you all know my opinion of it.
