These are very good buds.

I would probably only go etymotic if I used buds.

Nice price.

edit: I should rephrase. Etymotic is the only way I'd go if I were to buy buds.

I went for the ER4P. They rock. But if I had seen these for this price I would have gotten these instead. 85% of the quality for less than half the price.

You won't be dissapointed.

how do they compare to the Shure e3c's while we're at it. someone was saying that there are a $200 made by these guys that outright beat the Shure e5c's.

order placed.
accodring to this site, these are better than the e3c!
store
It is a store, but they sell both headphones.

I listened to the shure for the first time at a trade show 2 weeks ago, they were freakin amazing. The 2c actually has better bass, but no doubt the e3c had better clarity.
If these guys even compare to the e3c i'd be happy. (e3c go for 129-150)

I was scouring the net for these last week and contemplated getting the 6i on ebay for 100+.
Thanks OP, i love finding deals on sh1t i was looking for.

The 6i is quite a good set. Many people tend to find them fairly weak in bass, which is why many prefer the Shures. But the Etys are generally considered better in mids and highs.

I saw the e3c review at headphone.com but I found it almost useless. It had 2 sentences about it.

I don't have the er6i, but I have the e3c. It sounds soooo much better than my MX500.

edit: I'm interested in trying out the triple flange eartips but it costs $10 from shure...

review er6i
review e3c

That review seemed to take issue with the e3c's bass. From the little i listend to them, i kinda agree, the 2c's had better bass i thought.

Like i said, if its even close to the e3c's i'd be happy. At near half the cost i'll take solace in that .

Im not dissing shure stuff, if i can get the e3c at a decent discount i would, since i listend to those and liked them quiet a bit. Taking kind of a risk since ive never actually tried the er6i, i hope they fit as well.

huh, that's a great price...I was leaning towards the e3c's, but with this deal...I can spend the money on the rest of my system

I think the bass on my e3c is nice. I mainly with my Sony MZ-R90 MD player. The bass is good, with the no mega-bass used. Though I'm not a big fan of bass. Sometimes I think there is too much bass... Just make sure they're deep in your ear to get the full effect.

Maybe I should try audio tracks that are know for bass and see how it is.

For anybody who might get it, the foam eartips gets distort shape after a few uses. I think they're great on the e3c but I don't like how it's not as good after a while. Good sound isolation.

I have the regular ER6's. The bass is lacking noticeably in those, but it looks like the 6i is much improved. I got the regular 6's for about the same price, and am fairly happy with them.

I for one have had both the e3c's and the e2c's. I sent the e2c's back basically due to the fact that they are: 1) very uncomfortable 2) don not isolate as well as the e3c's and 3) yes the base is somewhat stronger in the e2c's but the overall performance does not match that of the e3c's (even with a significant price increase). I do however want to pursue the er6i as a secondary bud. If they can give the comfort and isolatiion of the e3c + a stronger base, they truely will be something to wear all the time. As it is right now the e3c is pretty hard to beat.

FYI...the 2nd week after I bought the e3c's I acccidently broke the right bud...sent them in to be repaired (bud still worked but the end cap would not stay on)....I figured that at best I would have a 2 to 3 week down time so I bought the e2c's as a replacement. Shure had them back to me within 12 days with no questions asked AND I had a brand new replacement for my previous set of headphones. Nice 2 year warranty if that means anything... hope the er6i's sound as good as the e3c's....

I'd like to respond to the "weak base" comment.

masteraleph is exactly right about how some manufaterers "tune" their frequency response.

This is a common opinion, but IMO is a misguided one.

Most people (not audiophiles) like lots of base, so manufacturers cater to that by artificially BOOSTING the base in many speakers and earphones. They Etys are made for pure tonality accross the frequency range. They are ballanced. If you want to tweak or boost you should decide this with an equilizer/pre-amp rather than having your speakers make that decision for you.

just my 2 cents

spent the past few hours going through dozens of reviews, finally ended up ordering a pair of 6i's. Hope they don't disappoint!

these are actually pretty cheap for canalphones. just in general, canalphones are very expensive to manufacture so pricing usually starts around $100.

that said, this is a great deal on a terrific pair of heaphones. the ER6i's do not disappoint, and this is a spectacular price for them.

Believe they are 87.99 right now but with this 10 dollar off coupon
http://www.buy.com/retail/coupon.asp?prid=82467173
they are chilling at 77.99 which is the best price yet.

Coupon expires on 6/30.

I just picked them up bout 30 minutes ago from an authorized retailer for 120
which I thought was a killer price since they retail for 150. Luckily, the retailer
price matched me for the 87.99 retroactively... didn't have the heart to gouge them
for the 10 dollar coupon.

These are killer sounding canal phones... basically in comparison to the shure's
they should have a clearer sound in general with weaker bass but stronger
uppers and slightly better midrange <- depends heavily on the model of shure's
you are comparing with... the e4cs and the e5cs might beat it out on the mid
range. Of course, many people prefer the higher end etymotic er4*s to the
shure e5c's which retail at 499 i.e. at least 100-200 more than the er4's depends
on where you get them.

I've only listened to these though so i really can't vouch for any of the above info
it is just a summary of what I've read and what the retailer (authorized dealer
for both) tells me.

These are hands down the best canal phones you can get for your mp3 player
if you don't have a headphone amp (another 100-150 dollars and it requires
batteries). Of course if you do have an amp then another model might be more
suitable... but these will improve with an amp as well. Basically the gist of it
is that they require less power to drive and that's why they are more suitable
for a portable player. These things will be a massiveeee upgrade on almost
any other portable player headphone that you have esp if you are using
the filthy stock buds... They aren't just for ipods either they sound great with
my Cowon iaudio x5. Plus if you do get an amp later on they will only sound
better and if you feel like investing in better canal phones later like say
the Ultimate Ears UE-10 Pro which sell for a mere 900-950 price.
http://www.headphone.com/guide/by-appli...me-high-end/ultimate-ears-ue10-pro.php

Well... it will always be useful to have some headphones that don't require
an amp and I guarantee that these will sell well on ebay or another auction/trading
site.

I have the 4P's and never got any bass out of them until I replaced the tips with $0.50 foam earplugs. I forgot the website where I found that idea. I cut a hole in the middle of the foam plugs and put those on instead of either the white tips or black foam. I haven't tried the 6i's but I'm sure the same concept will apply. Now all I need is a replacement cord without the microphonics...
