Haha I was looking at it and thinking the same. How is it that the $1049.50 part is a small bar and $2,400 is like 10x longer? lol.
But then it wouldn't look like full bars of wifi :^D

FYI, that commercial said in the fine print there is 31 milligrams of gold in the coin itself. 31 milligrams = 0.00109349282 ounces or about $1.19 worth of gold.

you have to spend money to make money, playa.
One of these days, I'll finally convince myself that it is in fact perfectly ethical to prey on incredible stupidity.the sad part is people really fall for this stuff.

And the best part about a true fool being parted with his money is that he doesn't learn a thing from his mistakes.
There was also a panic after 9/11. People were selling gas masks and scott packs in case of terrorist attacks. It's probably real equipment they're selling, but come on. Do you really keep a gas mask in your house in case of a terrorist attack? It's unbelievable what people will buy.Well, at least with gold, it seems like the tea party nutjobs are the ones being exploited. If they choose to believe the US is going to have Civil War 2.0 in a few years, then I don't feel so bad for them.
I'm curious how much gold is actually being sold in the commercial. They talk about "the 4 nines", apparently trying to sell the customer that each piece is 99.99% gold... but I sorta doubt that
that commercial is hilarious.
they spend all this time talking about this gold piece and how it's pure solid gold, investing in gold is great, ect...
...then they try and sell you (iirc) 31mg of gold for $25. someone correct me if i'm off, but i belive .031g of gold is like...a dollar?
It's possible to have a high purity electroplate. However the term proof isn't correct since it's plated after stamping. Any coin experts here that can confirm?
lol $25 for $1 of gold.
"Proof" is a method of manufacturing. It means specially polished blanks and then struck twice by the dies. It could technically be proof even if they are plated after striking.
You're just pissed because you didn't think of it first.
Stupid people will read it as 31 grams, which is right at an ounce. Who says buying drugs doesn't learn you something?
Are (real) proofs by the mint plated though?
Most are pure metal then sealed in an acrylic case for display.
The mint /may/ put out some specialty coins that are plated, but all of mine(and all the ones I'm aware of) are solid metal.
31 is troy ounces, used for jewelry and metals. Americans and drug dealers typically use 28 which is avoirdupois ounces.
how many grams in an ounce?
You're just pissed because you didn't think of it first.
Hint: Pennies since mid 1982 are plated. I guess you don't collect those.
I'm talking about proof sets that are sold to collectors. I collect old pennies(solid copper) also. They're good for those machines that stamp a image into a rolled penny, and they also make good copper washers once you install a hole :^D
A Buffalo nickel will make a nice fender washer if space permits!
