Saw one of those "buy gold now!" commercials during MNF.

In the middle of the commercial they flash to some obscure bar graph for about 2 seconds. When I saw it, I was like "wait, wtf? What was that?"... I paused and took a pic.

Advertising at its best... haha.

Sweet! I can buy gold with the money I earned from using Cash 4 Gold!

After all, going by that chart now seems like the time to buy! Buy high sell low!

Neither does buying a 28 gram piece of bronze that's plated with a few nanograms of gold.

But they said something like 20mg of gram! Isn't that a lot?!!!!!
I mean, it sure sounds like a lot. I don't know how they can afford to sell it at the price they do! That is a lot of gold!

that commercial is hilarious.

they spend all this time talking about this gold piece and how it's pure solid gold, investing in gold is great, ect...

...then they try and sell you (iirc) 31mg of gold for $25. someone correct me if i'm off, but i belive .031g of gold is like...a dollar?

Anyone seriously considering precious metals, silver is by far a better value right now.

Haha I was looking at it and thinking the same. How is it that the $1049.50 part is a small bar and $2,400 is like 10x longer? lol.

Quite easily when you don't start the graph at 0? Start it at $1000 and you're set.
Misrepresentation 101.

I'd tell people I live in a yellow submarine before I'd fall for these scams.
They must be learning Verizon's math!

I love these commercials almost as much as the one that insinuates you need to buy their insurance or you'll get fined.

I'm curious how much gold is actually being sold in the commercial. They talk about "the 4 nines", apparently trying to sell the customer that each piece is 99.99% gold... but I sorta doubt that

umm, thats actually true. Let my insurance lapse back in college, got caught, fined up the ass.

Varies by state though, but I'm pretty sure most states require auto insurance now.

they state that it is 'clad in 31mg of pure gold' or something like that.

gold is about 35 bucks a gram right now, it would appear. 31mg is less than 1/30th of a gram.

Ahh, well in that case, I think they are insinuating youll get screwed by the inevitable COSTS if you don't have health insurance.

And Health Insurance is now mandatory in at least one state (Mass)

It's possible to have a high purity electroplate. However the term proof isn't correct since it's plated after stamping. Any coin experts here that can confirm?
