Buy Half Life:GOTYE and CounterStrike for LOW PRICE!

Best Buy B&M have half life: game of the year edition for $10 after $10 rebate, and Counter Strike for $7.99 after $10 rebate.
I grabed two and found out that there is a rebate sticker on Counter Strike and it says you can get $25 rebate (not additional) if you buy those 2, so that means you can get those two excellent games for ($19.99+$17.99-$25)!!

Counter-Strike is *free* so you only need to buy one or the other... Just wanted to point that out so the newbies don't get confused.

EDIT: basically the new Counter-Strike release is the Valve engine + the Counter-Strike mod in a box. If you get it you don't have to buy Half-Life. If you already have Half-Life or if you want Half-Life to play Counter-Strike and other mods you don't need to buy the Counter-Strike release in stores. The CS v1.0 release is an 80mb download though.

Too bad Valve totally screwed up on the new models in v1.0. Counter-Strike should be Counter-Strike - it can stand on it's own. No need for the odd looking models that Valve imported from their other mods like Team Fortress... Oh well, looking forward to v1.1.

cmv, this retail version of Counter-Strike contains much more than you expected!!
It has multi player version of Opposing Force, team fortress classic, Fire arm, redemption, and wanted.
although you can (can you?? some..but not all...) download these from internet (if you know where to), but it will be too time consuming if you are using modem.....
Your time worth a lot more than you can imagine! ^_^

forbidden fruit, at the rate that counterstrike is updated, by the time you actually get the cd and start playing, you'll need to upgrade the version anyway. And Counterstrike is a multiplayer internet game so I'm assuming that the majority of the people aren't on modems...

$10 rebate is the print out form you get from BestBuy when you check out, gsiener.
obeny81, you are confusing people here...of course CounterStrike is a multiplayer game, and you don't have to have fast internet access to PLAY online internet games (modem is good enough!). BUT you will need fast internet connection to download this retail version of CounterStrike IF you want to save your time! so why waste your time when you can spent just $7.99?
Like I said "Your time worth a lot more than you can imagine! ^_^"
as for the updates, I only do it if it kept giving me problems

Yeah, I just ordered Half Life: GOTYE. It's an awesome game, especially if you download the counter-strike mod. Sorry if no one's interested, but I'm a newbie. I got mine for 14.50 each since I ordered 3 copies. Here's how to do it:

1. Call Staples (1-800-3Staple) and press 1 to make an order.
2. Tell them you want to order Half-Life: GOTYE, it's item IM1111008. It should be 29.99
3. Pricematch with BestBuy.com, where it's 19.99. Just do a search for Half-Life.
4. Since staples says it'll take 3-5 days, they won't charge you shipping since it's already free at BestBuy.
5. You can be like me and order 3 for yourself and friends. Then use one of the 20 of 50 coupons, and get free shipping.

19.99 * 3 + tax comes out to about 43 bucks. Not bad, huh? Can't wait till I get mine... =)

How many times have you gotten a rebate check back from BestBuy? I personally haven't gotten one back. Plus, you never know how long it'll take to get the rebate. Plus no need for a rebate or anything.
