I saw a documentary on some people who refurbished a Titan ( I think thats what it was ) missile silo. Looked pretty sweet, but required a lot of work - cleaning out the old crap, removing asbestos, etc...

Should there be a nuclear war, I wonder how many russian nukes would be retargeted towards the old sites - just for the sake of thoroughness.

I actually forwarded this to my manager half seriously. We're on the east coast but we have a small datacenter in Colorado Springs as well. We're paying for floor space at Sungard to house a DMX and some other fun stuff. You'd probably have to drop another million for renovations to fix the place up but the location would make a great space for a hot failover datacenter.

i wouldve liked to do this about 30 years ago when they were affordable.

On a side note i read that a harvard-trained organic chemist & some other dude manufactured something like 90% of the LSD in the United States out of one of those missile silos for years before getting caught 2000 I believe.
