Buying 7800 GT, good brand choice and is this PSU enough?

Click.

I'm about to click the purchase button on one. Good choice? It comes at $299, which is a great price.

Also, I'm putting it in my friend's Emachines PC, which has a 300w PSU. Will that be able to handle the 7800 GT, or should I get another PSU?

Not that one... I've had several Jaton products fail on my so I don't trust them at all. I'd go with EVGA & Newegg has one for $319 w/a $20 rebate, a lifetime warranty & its factory overclocked.
For the PSU, it likely isn't powerful enough, I'd suggest snagging at least a quality 400 watt unit like a Fortron or Antec otherwise your buddy may have some instability.

you can pick up a seasonic 500watt+ PSU for under $140. it's a sound investment that I would recommend. As for the vid card, rule of thumb is, as always, "You get what you pay for" and when you buy from some off-brand, you're risking more than you should from the $50 you saved. GO for the name-brand stuff like EVGA, XFX, BFG etc

Aspire has some nice PSU's for under 50 dollars. I saw 500 watt with like 36 amps 12v rail for 49, or less. As for the 7800GT, go with the evga one that is 299, factory overclocked to 445/1070. Better choice IMO

They look good to me! Unless you're planning on SLI with the 7800GT, if so then id get a 550w minimum

Please with SLI even 500 Watt is slightly overkill. IIRC a single 7800GT system consumed 236 watt of power. In SLI a pretty powerful system made it to 316 Watt under full load.

Get a good quality (Seasonic) 430 Watt. A 500 Watt while still overkill is very nice to have for some headroom though.

How come no one recommend LEADtek!!>!>!? Best card I ever had! Its oced to 450/1050 but I got it to run with my new power supply at 515/1200 Hits temps of 51C at max load!

Its also cheaper I think

edit: take a look at the seasonic s12 series quiet and reliable 500W should be a good amount
