We have had this for over a year and is pretty great, specially if you dont want to mess with hot water lines., Heated seats also is a major plus for us living up north.

I have regular 30$ bidets on all our other bathrooms they work well enough but the warm water and warm seat is pretty good.

It also saves TP use since you pretty much use the TP to dab dry your clean butt.

I know its pricey but there are far more pricier bidets than this

Oh I'm not saying that TP is better. I'm saying that TP is sufficient if you are otherwise hygenic.

I want you to take a minute and examine what you just posted here with respect to your choice of the word "hygienic".

An anus that is simply wiped with TP still has lingering fecal matter and will retain an odor. How the hell do you consider that to be hygienic vs actually washing it?

I went on google:
The bidet appears to have been an invention of French furniture makers in the late 17th century, although no exact date or inventor is known. The earliest written reference to the bidet is in 1710 in Italy.

Before this thread I thought all americans use bidet. Now I see, It's european invention, not american.

The bidet is indispensable in Italy and most likely elsewhere in Europe. My family comes from Italy and my mother's side are farmers. When they come in from the fields at the end of the work day, everyone washes their feet in the bidet, men included. Its multi-purpose bathroom fixture. Women shave their legs one at a time, by keeping one foot in the bidet. Look at it as a sink. The sink is for your face, hands & upper body. The bidet is for your lower body.

This. It's function can go far beyond using it to just wash your ass. After living here for 10 years, when I go back to the states, I wind up stepping into the tub to wash when I finish just because TP only doesn't work for me anymore.

Do you clean only outside of the butthole, or you also put your finger inside and clean the walls of your cute anus?
Some things are not for internet speak. Frequency of butt hole washing is just fine. Technique? That's privileged info.

Im talking about washing your anus after every bowel movement in a bidet, not just when you take a shower in the morning/evening.
Hey man do whatever you want. I'm having a healthy bum doing exactly what I'm doing and that's that. I don't think a bidet is necessary. You do. Whatever.

I dont care if you wash your anus once a week or once a year. So please continue to do whatever pleases you.

My only disagreement with you is when you declare wiping with paper to be hygienic while failing to see the logic behind using soap and water.

I think bidet is one of those things which you need to try in your life to see how good it is.

Hence the reason I got one. It's not cost prohibitive, as its under $40.00 delivered to your door. I'm sure it will take some getting used to, but with 4.5/5 stars, it seems like a no brainer.

To be honest, how many times do most people have a bowel movement? For me, once a day, sometimes once every 2 days, depending on how much I eat and how much of it is fiber. Maybe all someone needs is a handheld shower head on a hose to get the nether regions.

well, basically you are

nope, nothing alike

by the time i get to the shower, the vast majority of poop is gone, only miniscule traces left

on the other hand, in a bidet you're getting legitimate chunks of poo

Thats not how I was taught to use a bidet. Use paper to knock off the heavy crud and then move over to the bidet to wash yourself. Even if some shit gets into the bidet, thats why you have soap. Everything becomes clean including the bidet (which also gets washed anyway on a schedule like everything else in the bathroom).

Whats the big deal anyway? You never had a personal object accidentally fall into the toilet and you had to retrieve it? You never had the toilet paper rip while wiping and had some shit smear on your fingertips or under your nails? Ever had to care for a baby in diapers? Soap is the answer in all of these situations. Once when renovating my house, we had no bathtub or sinks. We just left the toilet hooked up and I had to wash paint brushes in the actual toilet bowl.

I moved to Italy in 2007. It takes getting used to, the use of a bidet. They are pretty much a standard bathroom item here. Although they are the separate item, not integrated in the actual WC. Hot and Cold water available. Once you get the habit to use one, cleaning with TP alone just doesnt feel like the job is done correctly.
If I ever move back to the states, I will be sure to include one in all bathrooms.

Yea well what do you do when you go camping, poop in a stream?

I have this one:

https://www.amazon.com/Luxe-Bidet-N...rd_wg=Yp5gD&psc=1&refRID=MKC6CR2CRT6SSY7WMZEJ

I got it on sale for like $35. Luckily my sink is right next to the toilet so I have really close and easy access to hot water. I do have to run the hot water in the sink for a few seconds to get it warm first but it's a small price to pay for a nice warm cleaning.

When I go camping, I dig a hole and then do my business. I then use a baby wipe to clean up. Bury the poop, used toilet paper and baby wipe.

I think people use like paper towels which are sprayed with alcohol and some perfume. Not sure though how they are named in english language.

edit: i goggled. They are called refreshment towels.

In USA, we call then baby wipes or wet wipes.

Oh please, there is nothing off limits for internet speak. Hell this entire thread is about butt hole washing technique.

I religiously shit 2-3 times a day. When I am not in my home bathroom, like when I am at the office, I bring baby wipes with me to the mens room.
