Buying a laptop..

I've been looking into some laptops and it seems that Sager is one of the better priced out there. I was wondering if it's reliable though. Anyone have any experience with them? Any other brand name recommendations? I've also heard of Max group and Prostar. Anyone know anything about those? Thanks.

I have used a sager and haven't had any complaints. It was a friend's laptop and I think he's had it for 2 years or so. I have not heard of the other two.

I got a dell inspiron 400 (check my sig for details) for 1300 when rebate check gets here during the deal they had running right before christmas. I have used somr of the above mentioned brands but they are all 3 yrs old so i cant sat what they are like now. But from my experinces they are good, sturdy laptops. The ones ive used tend to have problems in general with compadability. Like i said i cant vouche for the new ones though

I have a Dell Inspiron 3700. Check my signature for details. They don't make them anymore, but it's very similar to the 4000. Had it for two years now. Rock solid machine. Nice screen/keyboard, stable, quiet, fairly light (6 lbs), great driver support on the web, and an extra $100 gets you next day onsite warranty service (which I've never had to use). The only annoyance is having to swap between the floppy/cd, but they give you a cable to use the floppy externally.

What is the laptop for?, i mean what mostly will you do? is money a problem?

I know someone who has a Sager laptop and he has not had any problems with it (except for the plastic spoon I found in the floppy drive :Q ). A good place to buy laptops is Power Notebooks. They sell Sager laptops and the same laptop as the Dell Inspiron.

A good way to save a bunch of money is to call up computer vendors and see if they have any discontinued models or refurbs for sale. I bought my Dell Inspiron 3700 when the 3800 model just came out. I've yet to notice any difference between the two, except that I paid half the price for mine ($1500 vs $3000).
