Hi,
I want to buy a new headset.I want to know what is the best headset in terms of sound performance only. i'm not talking about comfort or design just sound.my usage is 65% Gaming and 35% Music. I usully play FPS games like Call Of Duty.
if you can Give like a TOP 5 it would be great(Ignore the budget).
And another thing what is better G430 or Siberia V2?

I would go for the G4ME ZERO if I was in the market for a complete head set.

Also,

I use beyerdynamic DT770's with a mod mic and sound blaster ZxR. Best "headset" ever. I'd look into quality headphones and then add a mic and sound card for 3D processing, or get one of the high end gaming head sets if quality is what you are after. All of this stuff totally blows the G430 and similar cheap headsets away.

im in the market for the same; i'd love one with a decent microphone so i can do VO on my vids.

budget is a factor though, lets keep them around $100.

I personally really enjoy my pair of DT770's. I've had quite a few of the budget cans recommended off the audiophile forums, and while they all had great sound quality, it wasn't until I wore a pair of my friends cheapo gaming (corsair?) headset that I realized I really wanted a pair of closed cans.

I searched on head-fi.org for a closed headphone with as much bass and isolation as possible while still retaining sound quality and ended up buying 250ohm DT770's and an Xonar Essence. I run +10dB on frequencies under 80hz and they only clip if I use extra high gain on my soundcard on the most bass heavy songs. I've had the pair for over a year and they just made me shiver with their bass now that I'm focusing on them.

On the soundcard side of things, I'm kinda meh about the Essence. It does the output side of things great, but completely falls on it's face when taking microphone input. It really needs shielding on the whole board. I circumvented it by plugging my mic into my motherboard which shouldn't be happening with a $200 sound card.

Shiver as in crappy base or good? I have the 80ohms and they have good base. I wouldn't spend too much more personally on headphones. I appreciate good sound but I have no desire to go too high end. I came from Logitech G35's and lol, what a difference.

I would say avoid gaming headsets altogether and go about just getting a good pair of headphones. The HD598 the DT770 are often touted as good solutions but there are many others that provide a good open sound stage that allows surround sound simulation to perform well. But basically all of the gamer headsets are more or less rubbish. Headphones + a modmic is the better solution these days.
