So the wife and I are thinking about getting a new mattress. We have one of those old school coil ones right now. It's not bad. We recently stopped by a mattress store and laid on some of the Tempur Pedics. I have to say, I was quite impressed. Very soft and comfortable. Also very expensive. Obviously the salesmen justify it by saying it'll last you 20 years and you'll never need to buy another one. (But that still means I'll have to buy another one at 46!) But really... 20 years, who knows. Probably not.
We also looked at one of those Ashely Furniture brand foam mattresses and I thought it was extremely soft as well. My wife was skeptical because it was only like $1700 vs $4200 for a tempur pedic. She said it'll probably be less durable etc... which may be true. Who knows?
All I know is I like the tempur pedic, but not really the price tag. Anyone have any experience with higher end mattresses care to give their feedback/recommendations?
