Buying an iphone online @ apple.com

I had a chat earlier with a CSR from apple and asked when the iphones went on sale there. He didnt have a clue only saying 6pm...I asked was that local time or PST and the rep didnt know.


So does anyone out there know when they will sell them online at apple.com? Will it be midnight tonight or 6pm PST, etc etc?

Thats actually good news. If I cant get one tomorrow at the at&t store (going at noon) then I'll try for one online at 9PM EST.

From what someone that works at AT&T told me; there will be plenty of iPhones to go around.

I wish they would just say how many they are releasing. Jobs said there is a good amount of supply but that he's not sure if there is enough to go around.

Rumors say they have 3 million ready but are only going to release 1 million today. On average at&t stores will be getting 90-100.

That's what I heard also. Apple stores will be getting about 1500 so I'm wondering if I should go there instead of the AT&T store.

apple stores are letting people buy 2 per person while at&t store are only allowing 1 per person. so even if they are getting more it may be counter productive if you go to a busy apple store. id say check out at&t first and if u cant get one go to apple...they'll be open to midnight today.

The ones in Northern Virginia have 40-50 for 6pm today.

Yeah what the hell i sup with that 2-4 weeks delivery if you buy online. It seems like they are shipping it directly from the manufacturers in China or something. My guess is the local stores are all out already, and now I finally realize why people didn't order it online.

Hey!!! Got REAL lucky at the Manhattan Beach Apple Store. Got there at 7:30p, the line was not too long though. At 9pm I walked out with 2x 8GB iPhones! I bought two in case any of my friends want one (I will sell at retail price of course). If not, I'll return the 2nd one for a full refund!

This thing is BEAUTIFUL. I hope everyone that wants one can get one soon! Good luck peoples--

Got mine from the AT&T store in Times Square. Got there at 6:15 and was able to get one of the last two left (4gb). There were still a lot of people waiting behind me and they were pissed that they couldn't get one. The store offered to pay free next day shipping cost for anyone who couldn't get one, and they said that the phone would be shipped within the next day or two.

I can't believe that Apple would make a phone in this day and age WITHOUT a user-replaceable battery. That is utterly and completely STUPID! I mean, it makes absolutely no sense.

I know that my cell phone batteries only last about a year or so (sometimes less). I also like to keep a few extra batteries handy when I'm away and might not always have access to a wall outlet or a computer for USB charging.

And to think that Apple could have made even more money selling batteries. You know the Jobs faithful would buy 'em up.

Now, you have to send your phone in most likely at least once a year to have the battery replaced AT YOUR COST. Not to mention you'll be without a phone for AT LEAST a few days... and who knows if your phone will come back in the same condition.

The Apple Store at 58th and 5th had plenty as of 10pm last night. There was a steady trickle of customers then, so I wouldn't be surprised if they are gone or not today.

They had a cheering squad of 10-20 Apple employees lining the sides of the entrance, yelling "Welcome" to entering customers and cheering/clapping loudly for departing iPhone purchasers.
