I may buy one. I'm beginning to think, or realize, that it's a PITA to upgrade your PC to the latest and greatest in order to play games. A dedicated gaming and media machine like a modded Xbox is the bomb. It's great for in the living room and if someone gets bored of the games it can stream movies or music from any one of 3 computers on the network not to mention what it has on its drive. Plus they usually sell new consoles for cheaper than they cost. So even if it's between $300 and $400, the Xbox 360 is a killer value considering the hardware you will be getting. Either way you buy games, yet a 360 can be had for the price of a video card, so its much cheaper.
But the PC can do so much more than games! Well indeed I hardly do much gaming anymore, but I think if I were to keep my current PC (~2ghz, 1GB ram, 9800 pro) for everything else but games, I wouldn't have much need to upgrade. It is plenty fast enough for most tasks. I used to edit audio and video on a 550mhz, then a 1.33ghz machine, so this is plenty fast enough for any multimedia or development crap I've done.
So I think a dedicated gaming machine will be the way to go... plus I can make more of a distinction between gaming/fun->Xbox ... work-> PC
ANd wow, long time no see Noriaki!
