Buying case before rest of rig, this a good one?

I am buying my new rig in parts as money becomes available, and I would like to buy my case first as the price of cases doesn't seem to generally go down like other parts do. I definitely want a full size case because I don't want to have to worry about not having enough room or cable management. What is your all opinion of this case, and it is overkill for someone who probably won't be overclocking? My computer will be your standard 8800gts/q6600 setup.

I like the stylishness of the case, and the reviews on newegg seem to be very positive. So am I overdoing it with a case like this, and should this be money spent elsewhere on my rig? Thanks.

If I was going to buy a stacker-type, full-tower case, I'd probably buy the original CM Stacker STC-T01. If I just wanted a stylish, large case, I'd probably go with the Silverstone SST-TJ05 or the Tt Eureka or Shark. But since you're not planning an extreme system like the Stacker was built for, the Armor would work while being a bit smaller the Armor is blingier too.

The 900 is a mid-tower.

Thermaltake Armors are nice cases, but starting to show their age...

I like them just fine, but in that price-range, I like the Enermax Uber Chakra better.

It picks up where the Chakra left off, is a blingy monster with uber cooling, and doesn't look like everybody else's...

These things are V impressive. In a lineup, you're eyes will always be drawn to this case - photos don't do it justice!

Well, maybe this one does...

i dont know about others, but personally, i had bad experience building computers with thermaltake products, and i always found them over-price and build quality is rather 'cheap' compares to other brands within the same price range, example, the front panel with doors, most of the thermaltake comes with plastic rather than steel or aluminium compare to coolermaster cases. you could pay the same amount for a much better built quality and features from other brands, like antec or coolermaster, but this is just my preferences.

kind regards,

I was over at PC Club today, checking things out, and they had a couple of Armors sitting there.

I didn't know that you could buy them with, or without, the 25cm fan -- but you can.

Anyway, the build quality was quite nice! It's a big, strong, mofo - that's for sure!

A little pricey, I guess. $189 with 25cm blow hole - $159 without, but if you can snag one on sale...

I loved my armor. The keyword is loved.

I love my CM Stacker T01, due to the large room and ease of adding a full waterkit internally.

I cant see myself not getting another MM after getting my U2-UFO. I intend to get a dualy soon and make a mean crunch box with 2 systems tied into 1 case.

I absolutely fell in love with my TJ-07 until i had to sell it.

If i was in the market for a new case. My choices would be as follows from most expensive, to least. These are full size cases

MM UFO or Dualy, or Horizon
Lian Li Modular Cube <--- i just want one for the hell of it.
TJ-07
CM Stacker

The armor is kinda old. And as vin says, its showing its age. Its a well built and very strong case. Very nice if you intend to stay forever with air. For watercooling it gets very tight and messy.

Another case i reciently fell in love with thats cheap, is the CM 690. Only problem is its kinda small to what im used to.
