buying refurbished ipod classic from the apple store?

I want to buy an ipod classic, since I'm fedup of ipod touches breaking on me (I've had 2 and they both had the same issue where battery life went to <4 hours).

On the canadian apple store, the new ipod classic 160gb is $280 but the refurbished one is $230, so I'm considering the refurbished, but I was wondering if anyone had experiences with refurbished apple ipods and if they had any problems with them.

Also, my main reason for buying the classic, is I want an ipod with a huge capacity and good build quality, so that I won't have to buy another ipod anytime soon.

EDIT: my other concern was that its an HDD on the classics and not flash memory like the other models. Won't it break easily if it drops?!

Why don't you just install new batteries in your iPod Touch?

You can do that? I was under the impression that it would cost almost as much as buying a new ipod. Also, my ipod touch is only 8 gig capacity, and my music library is getting close to that...

The iPod touch wont be able to touch the battery life of a classic anyway since, just by nature, the larger screen and light will use more battery juice, even given the same SIZE battery as a classic. Size of players for me has never been an issue as i usually only put on what im currently listening to, but others like having thier entire collection with them.

THe HDD WILL be more susceptible to shock, and just to failure in general, ALL hard drives WILL fail, its just a matter of when. Most wont fail in the lifetime of the devie, which is the ideal situation, but its a moving part, it is going to fail and there is a better chance of it failing than a solid state. IMO its not worth messing with the HDD ones, but thats just me.
