I am trying to buy my first set of real clubs, and i was just wondering what to look for when I buy them. I was also wondering if there is an advantage to a hybrid club, or what exactly the difference between a hybrid cluba nd a normal club is. I was looking at this -

let me know what u think. Or where I can find a great deal. Should I check ebay? I was also hearing things about "fake" clubs that are supposed to be good. How much do those normally run?

I'd first get yourself fitted so that you don't develope any crazy habits trying to adjust and compensate to something that doesn't fit your physique and swing. If you're golfing, you shouldn't really be looking for 'great deals' as your first stop.

I bought a set of clubs that had hybrids for 3, 4, and 5 iron. Took me a little while to adjust to them, but I love hitting them now.

Now if only I could hit my drives straight I'd be set.

Andrew,

First off its differant for everyone. If you can get fitted I would because first you need to find out your speed swing to see if your going to need a regular or stiff flex clubs. If anything go to a local golf shop glaxey golf, dicks ect..and hit some irons they have for demo if anything just to get the feel of differant clubs and your speed swing. Heck its free take advantage of it! I did and really liked a set of Mizuno irons that cost $799.00 and found the same set of e-bay for $450.00 new. Keep in mind I was leary spending this much on e-bay this this is not my first set of clubs so I was upgrading and play twice week. The set you posted looked fine to me for a begginer or someone on a low budget and has the hybrids included which I like!

I would defenitly get 1 or 2 hybrids to replace your 3, 4 and 5 iron if you get a set with out hybrdis and thats just me. If your young with a fast speed swing you might want to try the lower irons 2,4 and 5. I took mine out of the bag and use 6 iron through PW and for my lower clubs use hybrids. 14,20 and 26 degree hybrid. My hybrids are my favorite clubs.

Heres a nice set at rockbottom golf but doesnt have the hybrids you would need to buy them seprate. but has the driver 3 and 5 wood. Again I cant hit my 3-5 wood so still loving my hybrids. However If you find a good set try useing the 3 and 5 wood first before buying hybrids you might love them and hit them good.

I'll put it like this a friend and his dad didnt have hybrids and after I let them use my one weekend they both went and bought 2 each! One guy is 35 and the other is 55.

Another set with hybrids included.

Also I heard you cant bet these irons here for the price!

Go here and read this topic and just browse around. A lot of good guys that are more then willing to help and if you find some irons you like post there and might be cheaper then e-bay.
