buying X2 4400 soon, is the fan\heatsink combo that come with it good enough cooling?

which CPU would you guys recommend then for moderate gaming, rip a lot of dvd's and moderate overclocker. was strongly thinking about X2 4400 but it seems others think that is bad choice??? this chip will be going on a ABIT AV8 Motherboard

Its OK for mild OC, and not real load. For more OC and less noise, XP90 and panaflo.

I'm running it at 4800+ clockspeed and its silent (i.e. below 2000rpm) even under heavy load. Above that, get something else.

Buy an Opteron 165/170 instead. If you want to OC, you can get the XP-90+Panaflo for like $40.

I'm running a 4200+ with stock cooling.

I can crack 2.43?ghz with an idle of 38 and a load of 48 with no appriciable increase in noise. That's stock voltage as well.

Haven't tried to push farther, but I suspect I can get a little more out of it.

The stock cooler for a 4200+ - 4800+ is pretty good. I would stick with it. My 4200+ is running at 2.618ghz 1.475v with the stock cooler and thermal pad, load temps of 51c max. CPU fan running at less than 2000rpm, and not noisey at all.

I think XP-90 is starting to show its age. While nothing can beat the price/performance of it, there are somewhat better HSFs for a little bit of premium. Namely, Scythe Ninja, Thermalright SI-120, Zalman CNPS9500, Thermaltake Big Typhoon. I'd go with the one that fits best your mobo/case among those four.
