If you mean the i7-7820HK successor, named i9-8950HK, some time in 2018 H1: https://newsroom.intel.com/newsroom...017/09/8th-gen-intel-core-overview.pdf#page=2
I honestly actually didn't know that.Huh? Do you know what an i3 really is? It's just a relative marketing label, and gets applied to EACH new generation of Intel CPUs.
Celeron, Pentium, i3, i5, i7, i9, they are all fabricated from like 2 or maybe 3 silicon dies, which are then feature-crippled to meet market demand for those various CPUs, and binned for relative performance.
Intel i9 processors are designed exclusively for the HEDT platform. We likely won't see them in laptops for a long time.
And I am probably going to take a wild guess that when laptops do come out with the i9 on them, they are probably going to be very expensive at first.
How expensive were Asus laptops when they first came equipped with the i7?

Anandtech have already quoted an i9-8950HK mobile CPU for laptops. Shouldn't confuse a mobile i9 with DT i9.never...
I already linked some laptops in the previous post above yours with laptops using 8700k CPU's. Here's another onelaptop cpu's are not intended to have a TDP of excess 45W
If they play their naming game, sure. Kinda like dual core i7's.never... laptop cpu's are not intended to have a TDP of excess 45W.... and the start of the i9 has a 140W TDP...
That will take insane die shrink ages to drop that TDP.
