FireFox has been extremely slow for me lattely. When I start it, it takes like a minute to load. Even then, sometimes, pages take forever to load. Maybe it is my ISP, I do not know.

I just installed Internet Explorer 7 and it is a huge improvement over IE6. I think I will stick with this for the time being.

Actually my dissatisfaction with IE7 was what prompted me to try Firefox, which I have moved to on all my computers. I really dislike the "unconventional" button placement in IE7, and its tab implementation generally seems kludgier than Firefox. I had last tried FF about a year ago and didn't like it, but now I am a fan.

sweet! my ban has been lifted!

anyways, firefox 2 is sweet... get it. i used to hate it and all of its bugs, but they got rid of the bugs.

it still uses a ton of ram, but whatever... i don't feel it... eventually, i'm sure they'll fix that.

i'd use ie7 if only it had firefox's search prompt...

haha wtf?

That's the page that caused it. Must be someone's picture in the thread, but I don't know why it would open on its own. Goatse would've shocked me less. :|

EDIT: Apparently it was DP's picture that caused it. Why would it open on its own?

Could be an old html-injection exploit problem. FuseTalk used to have some serious holes, dunno if it still does.

do other browsers do the clear type font that ie7 does? cuz i really like the clear type stuff.

otherwise i guess the only reason i upgraded to ie7 is because thats the direction that microsoft is taking, lol.
and some pages display better now. (i had this problem in ie6 before where sometimes i couldnt see the bottoms of pages)

also i figure the more i use ie7 the more helpful i can be towards clients who use ie7.

i didnt like the button placement either at first, but i figured out how to get the menu bar to the top, so now the only problem is that the stop and refresh buttons are on the wrong side of the address bar, lol.

i guess im used to it.

Actually, I think one of the biggest selling points about IE7 for me is the non standard interface. They've been using the same interface for such a long time, it really is old and boring.

By the way, you can uninstalled IE7 in the control panel under add/remove programs. It is called "Windows Internet Explorer 7"... don't know why it isn't called Microsoft IE etc.

This is SO much better now!!! The menu bar is on top AND the search box is gone.

Took me half a day to recover from having IE7 on the system. Talk about crappin the system.

Layout sux too. But I could get used to it I guess.

Very disappointed. Stickin with IE6 for now. Will try again in a few months to see if it gets any more stable.

I don't care for FF.

How exactly is it a step down from IE6?

Well for one it doesn't have the 6 years of tweaking that IE6 does. And that, of course, won't be changing for... well... 6 years.

I've heard that IE7 is great, but buggy as hell. I declined to install it when Windows Update downloaded it. I have FF installed, but I just keep using IE6 because I have no problem with using it.

I still don't understand the problems people are having with IE7.

I've had no instance if "IE must be shut down" errors. I used to get one once a week or so with IE6.

And with installs on over a dozen machines I own or support, not one problem. From high end gaming systems, to old slow systems, to laptops and inbetween.

Weird.

I don't "get" how any unreliability can be tolerated in the "intartube 2.0" age.

I mean come on! The last time I had browser crash was Netscape 4. That was the deathknell for the company (yes, I personally rang the bell).

I really don't even remember the early Mosaic versions crashing but I'm not gonna claim they couldn't have but then it could be expected back then when some of this schtuff was actually new... in the early friggin' nineties!
