One of the better BBQ places near Austin is BYOB, I think with 15+ they'll let you wheel in your own keg.

That wouldn't be a wise decision. If you bring your own booze, they can't control how drunk you get and can still get in trouble if you leave drunk and do something stupid because it's their obligation to contact authorities for public intoxication if they serve alcohol (even if you didn't order any). Also, what if you don't drink it all? What are you going to do, pack it up and take it with you? Awesome. Now the customer has an open container in a vehicle.

BYOB restaurants are just asking for trouble.

The only ones I've been to had dim lights and only served pretzels.

yeah i can see that

ive heard of some nicee-ish places letting you bring your own wine and charging a cork fee, but thats usually a different type of crowd. id gladly take my own beer when i went out to eat if i could

We have a lot here because of the overall difficulty in getting a liquor license and zoning issues concerning proximity to schools, churches, etc..

Never heard of such a thing. Most states have health laws to prohibit food and beverages from outside sources.
