I need some help from all you talented programmers out there. I know you guys can help me out. Here is the situation.

I am working on a visual display client that is written in C and uses OpenGL. The program was inherited from somebody else who wrote and completed a fully working display client that does everything that I want already. But there is a problem. The program was coded in 1997 in C and OpenGL on a Macintosh using Code Warrior. It was designed to run on Windows NT with an OpenGL accelerator card. After years of disuse, I need to use the program, however, now on different hardware, namely Windows XP and OpenGL using Visual C++. Also, I do not know the serial communication protocol to talk with the program.

This program displays visual stimuli such as dot fields, motion fields, single dots. The code for the motion does not need to be touched. When the program is launched, it puts up a black screen. It waits for commands via a serial port setting up the stimuli scene. Once it gets these commands, it displays the stimuli until it gets a signal to stop and show the black screen again, via the serial port. So it goes, black screen, stimuli, black screen, stimuli, until it gets a command to stop the program all together.

This is a complete working program, however, I need it to be updated to run on modern hardware. I have all the source code and header files. Basically, I need somebody who understands how to port his program that was coded on a Mac with code warrior into visual C on windows 2000 or XP. Also, I need to find out the command set that starts and stops this program. The command protocol for the stimuli setup is documented in the source code, but not the start, stop, and wait code.

I need somebody to do a few things to this code.

1. Make the necessary changes to the code so it will compile and run on Visual C++ v6.0, on Windows 2000 or XP
2. It must take commands over the serial port from another computer.
3. Figure out the communication protocol. The commands to setup the scene are already in the code, however, I do not now what the codes are to initiate the program, to run a trial, and to exit the trial. Some coding may have to be done so I can add some other commands of my own.
4. Change the serial port number
5. There may be a few more details that we will explore as the project progresses, but these should be minor and few.

I am willing to pay somebody who knows about this type of visual stimuli programming to do this project. If you are interested or know somebody who is interested, I will send you the code for you to peruse and examine. Once it has been determined that you can definitely finish the project successfully, we will negotiate a payment. Payment only for a full functioning final product including full development files (workspace, source, headers, etc). No payment for a partially completed project since it is useless to me. Timeframe is around 2-3 weeks.

So if you are interested, email me and please let me know what your background/experience is for this type of work. I will send you the code then.

Before you get scared away, this program is already fully running and working. This is more of a porting project than a ground up project.

So if you are interested, drop me an email and we?ll talk.

Thanks guys,

Brian
