C&C 1st Decade

if you got it, did they update the graphics on the games or is everything the same as it was in the originals? Was it worth the $40?

I'd like to get it because I loved the 1st few C&C games but I don't know if I want to spend $40.

no, they re-released all the C&C games in one box. they optimaized them for XP compatibility.

No, it's not a new game. It's a collection of all the C&C games ever made. There's something like 12 of them. C&C, Red Alert, Generals, Tiberian Sun, and all the expansions.

Looking at the screenshots from IGN and reading one of the comments at cncden, looks like they didn't update any graphics

I'd kill for another Generals expansion or a Red Alert based on the Generals engine.

The generals engine sucks! It's buggy as hell. They should update it before even considering a Red Alert based on it.

Works for me, it's a bit slow i guess, but i was kinda impressed with it when it first came out.

Bah, Generals and Zero Hour aren't any good IMO. If they weren't included in the package they could charge $20 or something, then I'd be all for it. RA2 and earlier, pretty much every one from there and before, are excellent IMO. And I dunno about Renegade, tho I do remember playing the multiplayer demo/beta, and it was pretty fun at the time.

The last great C&C game was Red Alert 1. TS was poor, RA2 was good, Generals felt too warcraftish.

I really enjoyed how fast the RA games were, and how well the units moved. I can't stand the slow movement in starcraft, generals, warcraft, etc.

yeah, i'd have to agree with that.
i miss the old style rts games like that. i think rts games have changed a lot since then, and to me, they went away from what was fun.

I ordered it, and it's on its way to me. I have to say the main reason(s) I ordered it was for CC, and RA (with their expansions). I wasn't a huge fan of the games after that.

I got my copy a few days ago, and have been playing through the original red alert again (havent done so in 5+ years). Brings back some good memories, this was the game that got me into RTS. Kinda cool too, they fit the entire series on one DL DVD.

can you play the older games in 1280x1024 or even 1024x768?

i'm not sure my monitor will handle 640x480 or even 800x600

if i remember correctly, the last time i tried to play an older game in those settings, my monitor would just black out.

its an acer 19" lcd...

I have been playing TS on my 1920x1200 screen. TS is a max os 800x600x16 and it just adds a black bar around the play area.
