big difference between 35K and 50K. we were talking about the 135 with all the options BMW is offering being priced close to 50K. base 135 is decently affordable (although it gets close to 40K with a couple options thrown in)

The same can be said of just about every other car in that price range. An STI with BBS wheels, Nav, premium package, etc. is pushing $40k, then there is a ton of SPT options to choose from if you want to go up to $50k. An Evo MR starts at $39k and options up from there. And yes, you can buy your carbon fiber bling straight from Mitsubishi as well if you are so inclined.

In the meantime, the 135i is both price- and performance-competitive to those 2, and while lacking AWD, doesn't come standard with the boy racer look.

I'm leaning more and more toward the 135i in my new car search. I just need to drive one to be sure. I'd been drooling over the prospect of an AWD BMW Coupe. Now, the 1-Series Coupe had to go and screw with my plan. Here's the short list:

BMW 135i + Montego Blue + Auto (Downtown Chicago) + Heated seats @ $38k

Audi A5 + Auto + Sport @ $43k

BMW 335xi + Auto + Heated Seats @ $45

(Undecided on Color of the 335i and A5)

I'm so used to the feel AWD from Audi and Subaru so it's hard to switch to RWD.

On a side note ... I really, really wanted to like the Dodge Magnum R/T AWD... Powerful, AWD, practical, and decent price. Rented the Charger (same platform) I couldn't stand it, too much of a boat .... I wanted back into my German AWD badly.

I went from AWD to RWD. No big deal, except for when you expect to pull away from a stand still in the wet as fast as you did in your Scooby... Not happening!

I drive my 335i in Chicago land with snow tires in winter and it handles very well. Not exactly like my wrx before but surprisingly well. You going to be ok with rwd and have more fun too.

Thanks good to know.

I drove the 335i, 335xi, 328xi Coupes back to back yesterday. I prefer the AWD.

I don't do the track thing. Just highway and traffic. I can hit the gas and go in the AWD without the worry of wheel spin or over zealous traction control/Stability system pulling out all my power.

When I'd really punch the 335i. I got plenty of traction control moments.

And with the great lease deals going on '80 335xi Coupes at the moment I can get an on the lot well equipped 335xi instead of the original plan of minimalist special order 335xi Black + Auto + Headed Seats for the same price.

I'll be picking one up "soon."
