C2D E6750 - 3.2GHz Wall?

I have an e6750 oc'd to 3.2GHz (400x8/1.22500 vcore) My memory is G.Skill DDR2-800MHz RAM (5-5-5-15 Timings at 800MHz) My mobo is a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L Rev. 2. My CPU is 100% stable at the above OC, but I'd like to get it to 3.4GHz. I used Intel Burn Test to verify stability (10 runs @ High setting) My CPU's max temp at the above OC was 48c CPU/53c on each core. I raised the FSB to 415x8 (3.32GHz) and bumped the vcore up to 1.27500 the ram was set to 2x (830MHz 5-6-5-15 Timings). I tried the burn test and it failed after 432 seconds. I tried memtest and it was stable for ~4 hours at 830MHz/5-6-5-15. So I bumped the vcore up a notch to 1.28500 and it still failed. finally, I tried 1.30000 and ran the burn test once more and it failed yet again. The temps never went above 55c for the CPU and 60c for the cores. Is there something I'm missing?

you are missing a big ass hsf and some more voltage... my 6750 is @ 3.6 with 1.475 and a vendetta2...

have you bumped the mch voltage up a bit? and the ram voltage? you want the speed, you have to juice it up sometimes...

It could be the board itself. I had terrible luck with the same exact board trying to o/c q9550.

I fail. I increased it my .1v and now my system is stable. Here's my exact settings:

FSB = 425
Multi = 8x
CPU Vcore = 1.30000
mch voltage = +.1v
RAM = 5-6-6-16 Timings (tRFC = 56)
vDIMM = +.1v (1.9v - Unstable at 1.8v, won't boot at 2.0v) I have 4x 1GB sticks.
RAM @ 850MHz (2.00x multi)

I ran the intel burn test on high for 10 minutes. My highest temp on the cores were 62c. Highest on the CPU was 57c. NB reached 48c (Bit hot?)

Then I ran the PSU test with OCCT. Before it would BSOD after about 5 minutes. I had it run about 25 minutes with no errors. Temps got HOT though. (CPU 62c, cores 67c, 4890 82c, NB 52c)

No gae is going to stress my system like OCCT, but I'm worried about what my temps will be like in the summer (no AC) I might have to back off the OC a bit.

Even at your current settings, 1.3 for an old duo like that (65nm right?) isn't that high

Yeah it's 65nm. I was worried about going past 1.30000, but I've seen e6750s at 1.45! That would just be too much heat for my AC Freezer 7 Pro. 3.4GHz is my sweet spot.

45nm's can be run at 1.4 and 65nm at up to 1.45v for long term, 1.35 would be easily doable long term if you wish
