Well, guys, Sher is at it again! Looks like she's needing some beta testers for her newest innovation :light:: "Son of C4, Next Gen." I for one am very eager about this new product. It appears to have fixed all the small issues that we had with the C4 mousemat (even though they were few and far between) such as worrying about portability (its now a complete mousepad instead of a stickymat).

Sher's Beta Testers Wanted thread

I for one will definately be signing up. Its a 30 person BT group max, so make a strong case and be honest. Not going to be easy as the last one (first XX number of people to respond got to beta test it), but a better product warrants a more meticulous process in choosing the testers.

Good luck for all that apply!

BAM!

It would depend what the feet on your mouse are. If it's a teflon like material, then it isn't "needed." Your feet will wear away as the C4 surface is harder then the mouse's feet... This can go both way, if it's a harder nylon/ABS/whatever cheap plastics lesser mice feet use. Then the C4 pad would likely wear down... I personally use the teflon tape at home, and nothing at work as I don't care about the mouse here. I have noticed the feet on my mouse here wearing down within a few weeks...

edit: Erm yeah and I totally didn't answer your question there. So long as whatever it is is flat, and not sticky. It will be slick with it...

no it is not the same material. the mouse feet are teflon[/quote]

Yeah and the mouse pad is laminated Teflon...big difference! My friend loves his!

Try some of that Non-Slip drawer liner. You can get that at Walmart too.

am I the only person who had trouble sticking it to their surface? Good thing I got the 16x16, as the first 10-11 inches are fine, but the last 5 or 6 inches at the top of my mat have these lines from air bubbles I just couldnt get rid of. I know, I know, I suck at sticking it down. Other than that, this stuff is pretty amazing! I was prepared for a change, but the difference is definitely noticeable. After a couple of hours you begin to see a lot of the differences!

Just a reminder to the beta testers for C4 Next Gen, the samples went out this past Wednesday so get to testing! (Expecting mine to come in the mail today)

Hi, someone a while back posted they were worried about the surface being made of Teflon. I looked up a bit of info on that 20/20 report and found the following:
"Pending its review, the EPA says it is not now advising consumers to stop using Teflon products. The results of the agency?s review of the safety of C-8 and of Teflon-related products that may release it are expected in coming months."

Teflon does not emit sufficient fumes at room temperature to cause problems in humans. Most of the debate seems centered around heavily overheated pans. So unless you plan on putting the mousepad in a kiln, I wouldn't worry.

I'm trying out "Static Guard" (thin coating) on the C4. Does not seem to impact anything yet and it's too soon to tell about dust, lint etc. You can wipe C4 down with damp cloth or an Isopropyl Wipe to remove dust & dirt.
