If I had to name just one, I'd say The Last Ninja was my all-time favorite just because it was a great game in so many ways. Others that I thought were great were:

Pirates!
Adventure Construction Set
The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy
Paradroid
Beachhead 2
Spy Vs. Spy 1
MULE
Racing Destruction Set
International Karate
Archon I & II
Elite
Airborne Ranger
Skate Or Die

robp,
If you're using CCS64, pressing F9 will take you to the menu. Right arrowing on 1541 device 8 will and then the .D64 image you want to use will bring you to a directory of the disk. Right arrowing again will, I believe, Load "*",8,1. Hope that helps.

Dude, I had who framed Roger Rabbit. I got the game for Christmas. I was only able to play it twice. The stupid disk got erased! ARGH! I got to the part where you're in the club and you clear tables. You're supposed to get the napkin with a note written on it from that chick.

By far my favourite C64 game was "Wogglebugs." I wrote it, and it made me a whole lotta moolah before some pirates cracked it and every pimply kid's BBS in the world started offering it for free.

Ohh.. C64 memories! Just too many games to remeber..

International Karate
Defender of the Crown (hehe, it was kind of easy, just took like 30-45 mins to win the game, but still GREAT game)
Bubble Bobble
Last Ninja games
..
and many more!

The most fun thing about the C64 was programming it! Hardcore machine language all the way!
You could do all kind of cool tricks (opening the borders, displaying more than 8 sprites etc.)
I dig it out once in a while and play some games and do some coding, still the most fun computer I ever had!

Nothing was more fun than "accidently" killing all of the hostages
over and over again.

I did the whole commodore series (except the amiga... *that* computer was way ahead of its time). Vic-20, 64, 128D (D is for detached keyboard).

I remember the text based games that had me captivated... And HEY, If anyone remembers how to get the key off the Unicorns neck (Zork-1), I'd be very happy to hear how... I never did get that damned key off that friggin mutant horse!

Oh well,

Apache was a great simulator, one of the best. I played that till the drive overheated and I'd have to shut it down.

"Below The Root", based on the Zilpha Keatly Snyder (now there is a name!) was also wonderful, but you'd have to read the book to really appreaciate it.

"Alice in Wonderland" was also a blast. Very puzzle oriented... Myst before there was a Myst...

Oh, Spy vs Spy owned!

hunchback
Forbidden Forest
ye ar kung fu

can't believe I haven't seen these, Forbidden Forest is a masterpiece, if you haven't played it, play it on an emulator, it was made by one person I think and is incredible considering the hardware limitations.

DaBoneHead, the unicorn you speak of is in Zork II, not Zork I. You cannot get the key from the unicorn (only virgins can do that, and apparently Infocom knows quite a bit about its players' sexual histories.) But the princess (whom you meet earlier in the dragon's lair) will tame the unicorn and give you the key if you lead the princess to the gazebo. She also gives you a rose, which (as far as I could tell) is totally useless in solving the game.

The text adventures Zork I and Zork II fascinated me, and I spent many happy hours solving their puzzles. For some reason, Zork III failed to grab me in the same way, and I never got much beyond "Hello Sailor".

WW!!!!

I can die now. Believe it or not, I solve most (if not all) games I buy. Just something about me. And I never did solve that one, and it has bugged me to this day.

So, what are you doing this weekend? Feel like going for some Unicorn Taming? It's either get you to help me or Paulson... Either way, that key is mine now

Wait! I got s'more!

I think there was a jet fighetr sim called Ace. I think it talking to you. ("Missile Warning!" and when you refueld in flight, "Down a little!" and "Up a little!&quot.

Speaking of programming, did anyone here *TYPE* in programs from Family Computing and Compute!/Compute!'s Gazette.

I probably have my collection stuffed in a box somewhere.
