I was using a coolbox avenger on my cable tv with analog signal and it worked great.
Recently I was switched to digital cable tv svc and could no longer use my descrambler.
OK, I sold the box to a friend and set it up for him and all was well.
Later that week he called and said that he kept getting a burst of whitenoise and static and he couldn't clear it. I never had that problem.
I went over there and he turned on the tv and nothing went wrong it was working perfectly. He called again to say the same thing happend. I went over there and noticed that when the signal went to pure static I moved the cable around on the back of the tv from the descrambler and the signal cleared up.
Now he says it always happens and insists its not the cable.
The box is bullet proof but I dont know if it is surge proof.
Could a surge cause the descrambler to go into pure white noise in sound and video?
Or could a week signal cause that intermitantly?
any ideas?
