Ok here is the scoop...I have used the Linksys BEFSR11 and the BEFSR41 routers, and they work great except that i swear my speed is cut in half, and also I notice that when i get all my PC's on one of them drops the connection to the net...well it doesnt drop it so much as it cant resolve DNS all of a sudden...while a pc one room away works fine.
Here is my config..
ISP = Adelphia (Powerlink 2way)
LinkSys BEFSR41 Router (flashed to the latest firmware - not using any of the Zone Alarm crap or any software firewalls)
PC #1: Intel(R) PRO/100B PCI Adapter (TX) straight into the router
PC #2: 3Com 3c905 series 10/100 pci adapter straight into the router
PC #3: Cisco 340 PCMCIA card placed in a Linksys PCI adapter, running to a Cisco (aironet) AP4800 Wirelss access point
AP4800 is hard wired to the router.
I have tried DHCP and Static, but to no avail!
Also one box is a 2k Server and it has IIS running, i swear that when i turn on the default website my everyday box cant get to the net anymore!
If i turn it off, it works again but i have to reset the router by using the switch on the router itself...
Question 1: Anyone else have these problems? I have had this with both my Linksys routers, and the single prot router was used when i had no 2k server on the network.
Question 2: Is there a better router to buy?
I also notice that ALLOT of ftp sites dont work correctly, i have to screw around with PASV settings all the damn time, and then some of thm just never work. Even if i do DMZ or port forwarding it seems like it cant make that final connection..
Anyone ? ? ? ?? ?
