Nice P180. What power supply do you have in there? is it the S12 or the M12? I am thinking of setting up a similar system, with a P180 and a Scythe Ninja. Looks awesome...

I've decided to finally get around to posting some pics of my P180 cabling job:

Took forever to cable it but I'm pretty happy with the results....everything except the crappy IDE cable....I'm disappointed with that.....oh well, next setup I'll get SATA opticals

its very neat steve - i like it

yours is very neat too - im sure you can get a converter from ide to sata - thus you plug it into the back of the ide unit and it will give you a SATA port instead if im not mistaken abit used to make one called the serrilelII - since them im sure there are pleny other converters you can buy that will work with harddrives and optical drives as well

LOL. I'm planning on switching that out and using split loom instead to match with everything else.

I upgraded the case from an old, air-flow challenged case to a new Antec P180 Silver case. Using all older parts, here is my attempt.

P180 overall
P180 bottom chamber
P180 middle chamber
P180 top chamber
P180 shameless IDE job

It was a challenge to find an IDE cable long enough to reach from my IDE connector on the motherboard to the 2 IDE drives I have on the bottom of the case. I had most of my power cables and IDEs routed to the back of the case. It's also not easy to deal w/ the many misc cables like the front USB, 1394, and audio cables as they're not long enough to be routed any other way. I also didn't want any cable dangling so most of them are hovering or between gaps on the motherboard.

I looked at Menard's and they didn't carry this spiral tubing.

But, the PSU is an OCZ GameXStream, so it's wires are already wrapped in a sleeve, so it wasn't too bad. I did find the tie downs w/o problem. Also, the P180 I have has sort of a raised floor to the mobo plate, so you can feed cables that have to go to the other side underneath it all. That helped keep them out of the way. Those that remained close to the bottom I managed to tie down with the cable ties, the two going to the GPU got zipped together to minimize their interference and there was practically nothing I could do for the CPU cable. I used one cable for the top, bottom and rear fan and managed enough length on it to have it came back down and plug into the floppy drive. Not too shabby.

Unused cables went into the underworld.

The underside was a bit cramped with cables and I had a hell of a time getting the underside panel back on.

The P180 has remarkably stubborn panels. They don't like to come off and they take a great deal of patience and wiggling to get them back on.

I'm always concerned about zip ties, they're kinda bity on the cables and cutting them off always makes me sweat. I bought me some velcro ties for general cable management, never thought of using them for this until now. Thanks

Not sure if anyone has ever found or used this site before. I have ordered sleeving from them twice and was very pleased with the price and the prompt delivery. (no I dont work for them lol) I used the 1-1/4" sleeving to get around the 24 pin connector for the cable on my PSU. The UV green, yellow and orange all look great. UV zip ties match well. I will never pay for a sleeving kit again! Just wanted to share this with everyone.

Quick question on cable/wire management.
I have 1 flat ribbon cable (from Creative) that I can't replace with a round IDE-type cable. (for whatever reason, Creative says DO NOT use an IDE cable for this!). I'd like to clean my cluttered case up when I replace the PSU this week to improve airflow. Can I either use split-loom or spiral wrap to bundle that ribbon cable into a quasi-round cable without doing any damage or creating problems? (obviously, I have to be careful not to break any wires)
I'm not "handy" enough to take molex connectors and such apart to sleeve them, so I'm getting ready to order some split loom and spiral-wrap for improved wire management and appearance.
The new PSU (Corsair 620HX is modular with flat cables (for most things) so I won't have to hide nearly as many un-used cables as with my old Ass-Fire psu...(BIG plus for me, in addition to being a much better quality PSU!)

Thanks.

I just completed putting together my new build using an Antec P182 case. Wow... I love this case. The inside of my build is *so* clean. All the big cables are run behind the motherboard tray, and tie-wrapped down securely. Even the the huge ATX style power connector is run behind there. And this is my first build with SATA, and I just love how clean it can make the cases, vs. traditional old style IDE cables (contrary to the original poster's comment, I have used rounded IDE cables in 2 of my past builds and have not had any odd issues. 2 builds isn't a definitive sample, but works for me in this case )

The only thing I dislike, and I don't think I can prevent is the SATA power supply connector issue I have. My PS is mounted on the bottom of the case. As such the cables snake up from the bottom, rather than fall from the top so the orientation is opposite of what is expected. So, instead of having a nice clean chain from the bottom of the case to the top, what I end up having is the wires go into the top of the SATA connector (which is plugged into the 1st drive at the bottom of the case). Repeat for the next 2 drives up the line, going towards the top of the case. Not reallyi a bit problem, but it just looks a little odd and I'm not sure if it strains the wires a bit.

I had to remove the fan in the bottom chamber becuase the Enermax Galaxy supply I have is big enough that it would bump into it. Not really a problem, the bottom chamber is empty except for the PS in my build. However, the mount for the power supply assumes a "standard" size supply - the Galaxy is rather large, and as such putting the mounting bracket over the PSU in this case goes right across the center of the Galaxy's fan. Not really a big problem there is still quite a good amount of airflow. Looks a little odd, but no one will see that ;-)
