I have a sort of wierd question here

i have a cable modem and of course cable TV, my line feeds into my apartment then across the room to a splitter.
one side goes off to my cable modem whilst the other end goes off to my Cable box, vcr etc etc...

I recently bought an ATI TV Wonder tv tuner with a coaxial in connection.
My question is what would be the best way to put the cable onto my PC, should i add another splitter after say....my vcr..i am assuming if i add another inline to my cable modem that i am going to see issues...

Anyone got any ideas??

you may get more response in general hardware...

either way...why not just buy a high quality 3 way splitter and replace the 2 way with it? If you use good splitters, you shouldn't see any issues with the modem connection

uh, no, the splitter they installed has a special filter on it so that the tv isnt affected by cable modem, so what you want to do is split off that filter for your tv, do not replace the setup altogether.

I have the same setup. I just use a splitter at the wall jack (I just picked one up at radioshack) then one coax cable goes to the modem and the other goes to tv tuner.

Who told you that? This is not true. You can use a plain old -3db splitter from ratshack!

So i will let you in one more of what i want to do...

Here is my setup right now....

............................|-----------------Cable Modem
Cable in ---> SPLITTER
............................|-----------------VCR-------------------Cable Box (needed for PPV)------------JVC TV.

So what I want or should do is this?

............................|-----------------Cable Modem |------------ATI TV Tuner/PC.
Cable in ---> SPLITTER |
............................|-----------------VCR-------------------Cable Box (needed for PPV)------SPLITTER------JVC TV.

??? Sound right or someting different ?? ?
I want to be able to get Pay per view onto my computer and watch it when the wife and kids are doing there thing....

I would think you are going to have a hard time getting PPV on your PC. I believe you must go thru the cable box in order to get the PPV as it descrambles the signal. I would split it after the cable box, then go into your tv and the other into your PC.

Maybe a better way to ask SaigonK's question is If you have cable modem and 2 TVs, where is the best place to split the line? I dont' have a cable TV box or line filter to deal with.
As I see it, there are 2 options:
1) 3-way splitter to Modem, TV-1, TV-2
2) 2-way splitter to Modem and then to another 2-way splitter to TV-1, TV-2

Anyone know the trade-offs in data vs. TV quality? Thanks.

Get a good 3 way splitter. The "filters" they talk about are usually just little barrels they put on each line leading to a TV. Don't worry about it.

I still don't think you will be able to get PPV on your computer unless you use some type of software descrambler.
