Cable modem and router in one?

Is there such thing as a cable modem/router combonation available? If so suggetions on what to get?

Yes, I'm sure there are more than these, but the 2 brands I know of are Zyxel (941 and 944) and the cisco uBR 900 series

You can buy Independent Cable Modem and Cabel/DSL Router for about $100 for both.

There is no entry-level combo, and the Hardware mentioned by goldboyd is two, three times more expensive then the price of both independent cheapos.

its just going to be for a small network. So if i bought a seperate router and modem would i need to have one of the computers in the network always on so the other computers could use the connection or is the modem and router seperate?

No, you wouldn't need to leave one pc always on. Cable plugs into modem, modem plugs into router, router connects to pcs. You'd only need an always-on pc if you didn't have a router and were using a pc to perform the router functions instead.

Incidentally, separate modem/router is nice, in that if you ever switch to DSL you can still use the router. Other than saving a little space, I'm not aware of any compelling advantage to a combo modem/router.
