Cable Modem or Router Issue...

For the past 6 months, I have been having internet connectivity issues at home. All of my Wi-Fi devices have been experiencing random disconnects throughout the day, all times of the day, that last for 1-2 min normally. When they happen, I can still see all the available Wi-Fi networks in the neighborhood, but I get the yellow "No Internet Connectivity" warning in my network status icon. It always goes away on its own within a minute or two. Seems to be random when it pops up.

I have done some research on different forums and can't seem to resolve the problem. How do I tell if the issue is with the cable modem (Cox) or router (Apple AirPort Extreme, running dualband 2.4/5.0)? I would hate to call Cox to come check it out and have them charge me if the problem is with the router.

Plug your main computer directly to the modem for a day or two and see if the issue persists.

First go to 192.168.100.1 and post your signal and error logs, if you can see them, from the modem here, I will point out anything I would be concerned with, keeping in mind I work for comcast not cox and do not know their RF parameters on their network aka if they say I am wrong, I am as I do not work on their plant.

also the model of modem and router will be useful.

until then open a command prompt and type ipconfig /all and note the gateway address [likley 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x], then ping [gateway address] -t

ie ping 192.168.100.1 - t

and put it in the background until the problem occurs again then go to the window and hit ctrl +c, scroll up and see if your losing a stream of packets. if not, it is probably the modem side [ie cable signal, modem, etc..].
