Cable Signal Booster

Would installing a Motorola Cable Signal Booster for TV / Cable Modem / Digital Radio - 484095-001-00 in the place of the splitter provide me by Times Warner Cable improving the reception on my Samsung HDTV? My son in law has Direct TV and a very similar TV and his reception seems to be much better. I only split between the TV and Modem for Internet and Phone. When I play DvD's the picture is fine.

A cable amp will only boost the strength of the signal. If the signal is already bad (just stronger), it will still be bad. Is the picture bad at just some outlets or all of them? Can you check the signal where it comes into the house and see if it is any better.

Could be just a lot of compression from your service provider. Nothing you can do about that other than switching providers.

I only use an amp for long runs (I.e. 50+ feet)

I only have one cable that comes into my Apt. It then is split between the Times Warner
HDDVR Box and the Internet Modem that also has telephone connected. I probably should give Times Warner a call and have them come out and look at it. Thanks for your reply.

Best idea is to call the cable company. They are responsible for the signal being at the standard for your home. An end user install cable amp is a bad idea to try to correct problems of low quality signal at the home . Amp are for when you have a long run of cable and low quality amps will make things even worse.
